I'm removing this claim: The Chehalis River is the largest river system located entirely within Washington state. Only the Columbia River located in British Columbia, Washington, and Oregon is larger.

It's unclear whether "largest" means the size of the watershed/drainage basin or the volume of water flow. There is no info on the page about water flow and the external links don't provide that info. It might be true that the Chehalis has the largest flow of any river entirely within the state, but "only the Columber River is larger" seems unlikely.. what about the Snake, the Pend Oreille, the Skagit? These are big rivers. If "largest" means the size of the watershed, then the claim is definitely not true, as the Yakima River and Crab Creek both have larger watersheds entirely within the state. That looks like a good call to me. [1] I was surprised how big the Yakima and Chelan watershed areas are. Walter Siegmund (talk) 19:01, 12 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
The pronunciation listed on the page could be changed. I live in Rochester near the Chehalis River and it's always been pronounced like the city Chehalis (shuh-hay-lis - would type in IPA but don't know how to insert the symbols). Many people outside the area tend to say (tchuh-hay-lis), I've noticed, so perhaps listing both pronunciations would be most accurate? Redtitan (talk) 20:05, 8 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Navigability edit

Perhaps a sentence about how much of it is ocean-going vessel navigable, e.g., there are "Ports" in Centralia and Chehalis, though those are pretty far from the coast: what size ship is able to navigate that far up the river? Are those ports for ocean-going vessels? If so, what kind, i.e., heavy freight, fishing, etc.? OlyDLG (talk) 04:14, 5 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
