Prod

A Google search for "Centralskolan, Staffanstorp" (including the quotation marks) yields over 4,000 hits. Clearly notable within its Swedish context as secondary schools invariably are. Prod removed. -Arb. (talk) 21:54, 24 January 2010 (UTC)

This is a primary school (högstadium = up to 9th grade), not a secondary school. It is funny that you say that this type of school is "invariably" notable, because "standard" communal primary schools in Sweden are considered non-notable in Swedish Wikipedia, and are deleted/merged&redirected on sight. For this school, this happened February 17, 2007, and the policy there is so clear that there has been no attempts to reinstate the article since then. After this explanation, should I reinstate the PROD or do we actually need to take it to AfD? Tomas e (talk) 22:42, 24 January 2010 (UTC)

The article says "senior level of compulsory school" which sounds more like secondary than primary. And you are mistaken about "högstadium"; the article actually says "högstadieskola" which Google translates as "secondary school". If you skim the sources that the above mentioned Google search provides you will find one from a local newspaper about three teenage girls having a fight and being arrested... Someone with English as their native language tries to teach a Swede about the Swedish school system...? Google translations are not perfect. Norstedts ord (professional translation service) gives a better translation. "Högstadium" and "högstadieskola" are synonyms. This school is for children aged 13-16, which is part of the sv:grundskola (with interwiki links to primary education). Secondary education in Sweden is called sv:Gymnasieskola (Norstedts ord). /Grillo (talk) 18:15, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

The primary education handles children 6/7-15/16 years old. Secondary education starts at 16 and lasts for two to four years depending on education. The primary education is compulsary while the secondary isn't. Many schools in Sweden are called "0-9 schools", which means that grades 0 (pre-school) to 9 is handled by the same school. As for the google hits, most of the hits are spam from travel firms that automatically find places located on maps. Some of the hits go to newspaper articles about fights among pupils and finally some go to sites that advertise job vacancies.
