Time, Cover and Release Date edit

This news is just in:

  • The Album Version of the track is 3:35
  • The OFFICIAL cover has been posted on amazon.com
  • The track will be available to download on August 4, 2009 through Amazon.

http://www.amazon.com/Celebration/dp/B002JJ724W Josemrdj (talk) 07:22, 30 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

the release date that amazon.com gives is july 13th which is obviously wrong. so i doubt whether that cover is genuine either... Mister sparky (talk) 14:35, 30 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
You're so ignorant. Amazon said that the ORIGINAL release date was July 13. It will be available on August 4th however. And that cover IS real, it's been confirmed by Madonna.Josemrdj (talk) 00:23, 31 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
Please maintain civility in talk pages. And since you say that it is confirmed by Madonna, can you provide a source? I guess not, hence it will be removed. --Legolas (talk2me) 03:35, 31 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
The song is available on Amazon now. It's been released. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.23.29.17 (talk) 09:28, 31 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
Due to the early leak, the song is now in heavy rotation on radios worldwide, and has been released on Amazon and iTunes. The song has been officially released. —Preceding unsigned comment added by JRoman1976 (talkcontribs) 14:19, 31 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

The article is fully protected now for the time-being. Untill and unless a consensus is reached regarding the single cover, I'll ask the protecting admin to keep it fully protected. --Legolas (talk2me) 10:47, 31 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

the only place i've seen the smoking cover has been on blogs and fansites, nothing official. and amazon always get things wrong. i kept reverting it yesterday because its not been confirmed. we may be proved wrong. but lets just wait and see till its officially confirmed Mister sparky (talk) 14:47, 31 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
Don't worry, I marked both the files (File:MadonnaCelebrationSingle.jpg and File:CelebrationSingle.jpg)for speedy deletion. PopMusicBuff talk 14:59, 31 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Guys, let's get this article back on: http://madonna.com/news/title/celebration-single--download-now This is Madonna's official site announcing the release of the single... and it has the picture beside, which is also the one on Amazon. MusicDiscography (talk) 16:33, 31 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

I changed File:MadonnaCelebrationSingle.jpg. I removed the speedy request, and resized it to meet WP:FAIR. I also revised the speedy deletion for File:CelebrationSingle.jpg. PopMusicBuff talk 16:51, 31 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Reviews edit

Reviews for the article has arrived. MTV Los Angeles Times The Guardian: Confirmation of Lourdes' appearance in the video --Legolas (talk2me) 15:36, 31 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

So it's now okay to mention Lourdes' appearance in the video using the reference from the Guardian? PopMusicBuff talk 17:23, 31 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

"Celebration" was on number 1 in Croatia as well. Now she fell down to number 2. Here is the resource.http://otvoreni.hr/default.aspx?ID=43&glasovanje=da Orange means she was number 1 last week and now she fell down to number 2.

Digital download edit

Can you add in that Madonna.com have released the digital download of the single early (31 July 2009) due to it being leaked on the internet on the 30th. [1] JWAD talk 20:53, 31 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

I don't think we will be able to include anything regarding the leak however, the release sure can be modified as we are using an official reliable source. I just bought it on iTunes, although for some reason the cover artwork is different from the one pictured on the Madonna website. Strange but anyhow, I will make changes to the release date and format the source. • вяαdcяochat 22:21, 31 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
Actually, according to WP:ALBUM#Leak, the leak can be mentioned, because it resulted in the single being released a few days earlier. PopMusicBuff talk 22:32, 31 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
Hmmm. I'm kinda neutral. Thing is, this is a single, not an album and the leak has to be notable. No where does it state in the source (for the July 31, 2009 release) that the release was brought forward because of a leak. If you can find a reliable source regarding the release being brought forward due to leak, feel free to post it up here. • вяαdcяochat 22:58, 31 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
You're right. I thought that WP:ALBUM was for albums and for singles, but singles have their own set of guidelines at WP:SINGLE, and there isn't anything there about leaks. WP:SINGLE#Leak just redirects to Wikipedia:WikiProject Songs. I'll post back, if I do find a reliable source though. PopMusicBuff talk 23:17, 31 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

According to Madonna.com, "Celebration" will be released as a single in Germany on September 11, and not on September 4 as the article says. --130.226.70.114 (talk) 17:44, 22 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Charts edit

madonna.com says the song is #1 in Holland... is that a good chart?--12345abcxyz20082009 (talk) 13:15, 26 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Its Netherlands or Dutch Top 40. It is a WP:GOODCHART but this week's is yet to be updated. Madonna.com might have reported a prior announcement which is still to be reflected by teh official website. --Legolas (talk2me) 13:23, 26 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
You can find the official international peaks here for most European countries.—Kww(talk) 13:25, 26 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yes but that site only lists the Single Top 100, which is a component chart of the Dutch Top 40. Frcm1988 (talk) 00:47, 27 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
I've heard that, and always accepted it because I've been told it so many times, but can you point me at a source that details the relationship between the two charts? My Dutch is pretty good, so a Dutch source is just fine.—Kww(talk) 00:51, 27 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Video edit

though no official source has confirmed this, but various fan sites like mad-eyes.net report that in a few days a second video will be released which will be set to the album version of the track featuring the fans. is it ok to publish this on the page citing them as a source? please comment. thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Monica8500 (talkcontribs) 16:09, 1 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

No I'm afraid. Mad-eyes.net is a fansite and hence fails as a reliable source. If it is really coming up then an official source will arrive. --Legolas (talk2me) 03:21, 2 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

i do not intend to offend anyone but is it necessary to give a scene by scene detail of the video? like her gyrating, touching her groin etc.? it just does not seem very classy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Monica8500 (talkcontribs) 12:18, 3 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned references in Celebration (Madonna song) edit

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Celebration (Madonna song)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 21:16, 20 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

#1's In Other Countries Missing.... edit

Madonna's "Celebration" has also hit #1 in the following Countries

Croatia Georgia Hong Kong Israel Latvia Lebanon Poland Russia Ukraine Uruguay Venezuela

I would add them but considering how many edits get reverted at Wikipedia, I am not going to bother.(MoovieStarz (talk) 02:10, 2 November 2009 (UTC))Reply

Maximum numbers of charts added are twenty. All of these that you said are extremely minor markets and hence their absence does not exactly create any difference. --Legolas (talk2me) 05:40, 2 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
I know we will probably never agree on how these pages should be handled. I think that it is pretty lame that you basically suggest that because they are "minor markets" that they are not important. Some artists build their base in minor countries and move on to bigger things. And yes it does create a difference when the page fails to reflect the fact that the song went to #1 in 14 countries Total. It would be important to show the fact the song went #1 in certain countries rather than peaking at lower places on other charts. I guess we just see things differently as to how the page should be structured. It's like a newspaper article where the reporter has failed to check all his sources. It's lacking information and thus is less accurate as a result (MoovieStarz (talk) 05:50, 17 November 2009 (UTC))Reply
Provide a reliable chart for these countries first. --Legolas (talk2me) 05:54, 17 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
Legolas, there are no Wikipedia guidelines that state the maximum number of charts entered is 20 - it helps no-one to make up rules as you go along. Any charts can be added as long as they are sourced from the official charts for the country as set out at WP:GOODCHARTS Go for it MoovieStarz. Paul75 (talk) 01:57, 3 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
As I said, you need to provide reliable sources for it. And GA reviews are important. If the reviewer points that there are too many charts, he's probably right. --Legolas (talk2me) 04:58, 4 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Reference list edit

I suggest the implementation of {{Reflist|colwidth=45em}} on this article, because of the length of the reference list. Opinions, rejections? —bender235 (talk) 13:59, 17 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sure, what are the benefits of the addition? — Legolas (talk2me) 14:29, 17 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
The colwidth paramter splits the reference section in columns, but not a fixed number (of two) like {{Reflist|2}}. Instead, it produces a variable number of columns, each 45em wide, which mean on an average 17 in monitor (1280×1024) you'll see two columns, but only one on a smaller screen (like a netbook), and three or four on screens larger than 22 in (1920×1200 and wider). For more information, please see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Usability#Ideal column width for references. —bender235 (talk) 14:44, 17 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thats wonderful! Does it work for Internet explorer 10? — Legolas (talk2me) 14:52, 17 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
Not sure. Right now, columns only work in Firefox, Safari and Chrome (see Template:Reflist#Browser support for columns). That means both {{Reflist|2}} and {{Reflist|colwidth=45em}}. —bender235 (talk) 15:08, 17 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
Anyways, go ahead and implement the change please. Would you mind doing it in atleast the GA/FA/FLs of WP:MADONNA? — Legolas (talk2me) 15:21, 17 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
Okay, thanks. Feel free to implement it where you consider it useful, too. —bender235 (talk) 15:31, 17 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
