Video problem

I am not sure what is going on with this video, but I am having trouble viewing it and it is distorting the lay out of the page as well. I though that it could placed here while we figure out what is wrong. Any ideas? M stone 13:23, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

I'm sorry to revert some of your edit, but it deleted important information and made the science rather dodgy, as well as introducing several grammatical errors. The rotation of catenane rings through each other is one of the most fundamentally important and well-studied aspects of catenanes, and it should certainly be discussed in a little detail. I don't think there's currently any problem with the article getting too long, so I don't see any reason to remove this information.

I'm also not sure about putting nomenclature in its own section at the end, for two reasons (note:, I have not reverted this): First, there's so little to it that it doesn't really need a whole section (unless someone pads it out, but it can be "sectioned" if and when that happens). And second, since the nomenclature is used in the article, it seems to me that it should be explained before it appears. It's only a detail, but worth thinking about.

There is no need to apologize for editting a page :) I think that placing the nomenclature under it own heading is a good idea. It is good to leave room for the expansion of nomenclature since is such an active area of discussion ( Nomenclature for Catenanes, Rotaxanes, Molecular Knots, and Assemblies Derived from These Structural Elements doi:10.1002/1521-3897(200006)342:5<437::AID-PRAC437>3.0.CO;2-7). It has been done for other supramolecular page including cucurbituril and rotaxane.

The reason I revised the section under "Properties and Applications" to make it more general to all rotaxanes. Not all rotaxanes can rotate through each other. Not all rotation can be detected by NMR spectroscopy. I am thinking that it might be good to have subheadings rotation and mechanical switch. I'm all for a nomenclature section if it does get expanded - it's just a bit silly as it is right now. I also see you point about the rotation. I have fixed it by adding the words "many" and "often" to make it clear that it's not "all" and "always". A section about this process would be a good idea, but again it would need someone to add the content to justify the separate section. I'm afraid I'm not going to be the one to do that, since I'm a rather nomadic Wikipedia editor and I think I'm done here (at least for the while). Oh, and for references I would dump in one or both of the Stoddart Chem. Revs on the subject. They are pretty comprehensive from what I remember. Rather Stoddart-centric of course, but to be fair catenane chemistry is Stoddart-centric. One last thing: Going back to the video I'm not 100% sure that actually is working. I got some glitches here, although it could be because of a crappy internet connection. Nomenclature

Hello! Yesterday I created the Olympiadane article (including the structural formula). I wanted to add the systematic name, but after reading to the nomenclature paper, I decided that I am not fit enough in nomenclature anymore *g*. Expand applications and properties section
