Orphaned references in Captain America in film
editI check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Captain America in film's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Merge proposal

- After more than a week open, no additional editors provided options, but consensus is to merge. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 03:50, 29 January 2014 (UTC)
This page should be merged into Captain America in other media. All relevant info (ie not the cast table or reception section, as those can be found on individual pages or better yet, the Marvel Cinematic Universe page) can easily fit in the section on that page. Please note similar proposals occurring at Thor in film, Iron Man in film and Hulk in film. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 05:41, 18 January 2014 (UTC)
- Merge per nominator. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 05:41, 18 January 2014 (UTC)
- Keep: I believe we should keep the Captain America in film and Hulk in film, due to both the characters appearing before outside the Marvel Cinematic Universe films. Like Captain America, there's the serial, the god offal 1990 film and the Marvel Cinematic Universe films. -- TreCoolGuy (talk) 02:52, 18 January 2014 (UTC)
- Merge apart from the unnecessary cast list there is no reason this cannot fit readily within the confines of Captain America in other media. The cast list duplicates information at the List of MCU characters, the MCU article, and each individual film article. The animated stuff should come under animation in general. Darkwarriorblake (talk) 11:57, 18 January 2014 (UTC)
- Either way: Captain America has television movies, serials, a 1990's film and of course two MCU movies. That sounds like that could be enough if it wasn't stealing the same info from other pages. I will see with what I can do with this article sometime. Because I am sort of aiming it to be kept. Just not the way it is written. Jhenderson 777 15:29, 18 January 2014 (UTC)
- Merge You literally have 15k of content here that can easily be accommodated at the other article. The table is fairly redundant: the cast of the MCU films is available at List of Marvel Cinematic Universe cast members, and there is no cast overlap between the serial and 1990 film. As with Thor the content can easily be covered by "Other Media" article. Betty Logan (talk) 03:24, 19 January 2014 (UTC)

QPQ: - Not done
Overall: Nice article and will be a popular hit when it hits Main Page. AGF on offline sources. Just waiting for a QPQ. BorgQueen (talk) 10:37, 20 January 2023 (UTC)

Other MCU films section
edit@Morgan695 I'd recommend expanding out at least the Avengers appearances in the other MCU films section before the GA review begins. Then maybe keep a small section for the cameo appearances. -- Zoo (talk) 18:54, 22 March 2023 (UTC)
- Done. Morgan695 (talk) 19:32, 22 March 2023 (UTC)
- Oh, I meant fleshing them out individually like you have for each of the Captain America movies. I was looking at Spider-Man in film and Batman in film, which are both GAs. They have fully written out sections for appearances in the Avengers and Justice League, as well as their titular movies. I'm just assuming that's something that would come up in a GAR. -- ZooBlazertalk 23:32, 29 March 2023 (UTC)
- I think it would be good to do this yes.★Trekker (talk) 00:27, 30 March 2023 (UTC)
- I've fleshed out those sections, but I think there's less to talk about for Captain America here compared to 'X in film' articles; Spider-Man in film necessarily involves discussing the powersharing deal with Sony, etc. And I personally feel like the Justice League sections in Batman in film exceed the article scope of "Batman in film" to be repetitious of general information about the film already covered in the respective Justice League film articles, but that's just my opinion. Animated films
editShouldn't the 2 "Ultimate Avengers" animated films be listed here as well? Captain America is a supporting character in both Cambalachero (talk) 19:42, 28 April 2023 (UTC)
- Added based on the manner in which animated films are listed at Batman in film. Morgan695 (talk) 22:34, 28 April 2023 (UTC)

- Will do. AryKun (talk) 15:22, 31 July 2023 (UTC)
- "he originated in the 2008 film Iron Man." Originated doesn't seem like the right verb, maybe played?
- Done.
- Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow seems to be missing from the Animated Films list.
- Added. I'm not familiar with that movie, but it seems that Captain America just appears in an unvoiced cameo. I believe that this would be a case where the work itself is assumed to be the source, but I added a CBR ref that mentions the main character being Captain America's son.

Pro-live-action / anti-animation bias
editThe article doesn't look bad by any means, but the fact that the entire article is focused exclusively on the live-action films is pretty glaring. Each film having a whole subsection dedicated to its productions, release, and reception. One could argue that the 1944 serial and MCU films require such attention because of either historical significance and/or blockbuster status, alongside being theatrical release. However, the CBS duology and 1990 film don't really qualify as the former two were telefilms, while the latter saw only a direct-to-video release in America; granted, it did receive a theatrical release internationally. Shouldn't the "Animation" section at the very least follow the structure of the "MCU" one? Include Iron Man and Captain America: Heroes United as part of a "Title roles" subsection, while the rest go in either the "Ensemble and supporting roles" or "Cameo appearances" section, with the film also included in the "Personnel", "Home media release", and "Reception" sections. Pinging @Morgan695: as this article is your baby and I'd like to get your opinion on this. Again, I don't think the article's current state is bad or something that needs fixing, but this is a point I thought important of discussion and would like to get some viewpoints. PanagiotisZois (talk) 20:35, 31 October 2024 (UTC)
- I personally don't believe that any of the animated films listed here are significant enough to merit more than the passing reference they currently receive in the article. If there was an animated Captain America film that was comparable to something like, for example, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, than it would be an obvious omission for it to not be covered in detail here. But none of these films are especially notable; of the eight listed, only one isn't just a redirect. Morgan695 (talk) 21:22, 31 October 2024 (UTC)
