Spelling edit

Has anyone else seen the spelling "bawerbird" and "bawerkingbird"? I've reverted them to "bower" but wanted to know if there's some special significance to "bawer" that I just don't get... Shim jb (talk) 03:22, 10 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Have never seen it spelled that way before. Where did you get this from?122.148.138.107 (talk) 07:50, 27 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Obsessive-Compulsion? edit

A documentary on a species of bowerbird showed that if even one or two objects in a bower are moved or rearranged, the bowerbird will tear down the nest to rebuild from scratch. Is this true? --Arima (talk) 17:35, 6 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Behavioral Ecology edit

The Wikipedia entry for Bowerbirds is significantly more complete than the entries for either Long-tailed Widowbird or Parotia. Though still classified as only a “Start” article by Wikiprojects Birds, it is considered to be of high importance. As such, the quality of the article is rather high relative to most of the articles thus far surveyed. The article provides a decent summary of both the bird’s ecology and behaviors. Their ecology, including life expectancy and fecundity, is very well documented. Also, special attention is paid to their mating behavior, including the elaborate decoration of nests by males. Several researchers and their hypotheses concerning the Bower Bird’s behavior are mentioned in descent detail. However, the entire section on the bird’s behavior lacks references. Furthermore, some parts are in need of editing for clarity. Despite its shortcomings, there has been no critique of the article in the Talk section and the History of the article indicates that most edits have been to add citations to the morphology and ecology sections of the article and to add to the taxonomy section, which lists the different species and genuses of Bowerbirds.
