A fact from Bernardo Putairi appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 20 January 2017 (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
Did you know... that Bernardo Putairi(pictured) succeeded as the final Prince Regent of Mangareva after his predecessor Arone Teikatoara kissed a girl on the street?

I am only going to create a start article for now and not go into the details of this history since I can't access or understand most of the available French sources. Even the ones being used now are not fully utilized. For example, it is hard to understand when or if he became king after the final princess's death since we just have what Chesse said. Hopefully, a French researcher can look for better sources surrounding the exact details of the annexation period and the documents and treaties associated with the governmental transition.--KAVEBEAR (talk) 00:09, 29 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
