OOB

edit

Should the order of battle be moved to a separate article such as those for Wilson's Creek and Pea Ridge? Scott Mingus 03:42, 5 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Scott Mingus proposed this over two years ago and the notice on the article page has been up over a month, and so far no one has commented on this one way or the other. As long as there are no objections, I'll probably go ahead with the split. Wild Wolf (talk) 17:10, 17 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Display weirdness

edit

The "edit" box for the first section is still ending up weirdly placed, below the text. It would be good if someone fixed that. --Brianyoumans 19:03, 7 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Who decided to halt?

edit

The current article states that Hindman made the decision to halt his advance at Prairie Grove. However the Battlefield tour guide and an article by William L. Shea in North & South Magazine (Vol. 9, No. 3. June 2006) indicate that the decision was made by Shoup. Further research may be needed for a definitive answer. Also I think that it might be worthwhile for someone to track down a copy of Shea's 2009 book to see how it differs from the material that was used as sources for this article.Graham1973 (talk) 07:56, 21 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Maneuvering to battle

edit

Normally I would not mess with a GA-assessed article. However, I believed that more details were needed in the "Maneuvering to battle" section about significant events (Blunt's call for help, Herron's epic march, Hindman's flank march, the rout of Union cavalry that morning, Blunt's march to the battlefield) that occurred in the days leading up to the battle. Since I have a copy of Shea's Fields of Blood, I am expanding this section. I also created two maps that should help readers understand the intricate day-of-battle maneuvers. To be honest, other accounts of the battle are hard for me to understand, and only Shea explains this stuff clearly. Djmaschek (talk) 04:36, 8 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Troop Strength citation

edit

This page cites https://www.battlefields.org/learn/civil-war/battles/prairie-grove for the troop strength, but that page does not include that information. The citation should be updated or removed.

An older version of the webpage included that information, but it has been removed in the current version. I've replaced with a different source, which unfortunately only lists approximate numbers. Hog Farm Talk 04:37, 2 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
