Felkin model should be Felkin-Anh model? edit

The Felkin model being discussed is (at least in North America (and New Zealand Aaadddaaammm 05:12, 30 October 2006 (UTC))) popularly known as Felkin-Anh; Felkin was the experimentalist and Anh was a theoretician that more thoroughly proved the wide applicability of the rule.Reply

It follows from that that the "Felkin" and "Felkin-Anh" models are not different (as it's understood from the article, but the same.

Should the name be changed?

  • Hi Dockingman, my involvement with this article ended with the Felkin model for the simple reason that my library does not provide access to the Ahn articles. The external link given in the article treats them separately though. If you feel that they are the same then by all means make the necessary edit. V8rik 20:29, 16 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
    • As I understand it, Anh's work it's not a model by itself, but instead an extension and more general model of Felkin's rule. That's what I get from the external link, too. I'll get to modify it soon then. -- dockingmanTalk 14:26, 17 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

citations edit

This article contains very few inline citations, and contains several graphs that are clearly lifted from pdfs. Some citations should be added quickly. Are the original authors (who have that information) watching this page? I wonder if the pdf images shouldn't be removed entirely? I am not very familiar with Wikipedia's guidelines, but I know they have something to say about this. And it'd be a pity, too, because the article is quite good.

I always hated the way the model is called Felkin-Anh, since in Vietnamese the surname comes first, and it should then be Felkin-Nguyen. But, how can you change half a century of habit? Probably one could start in a Wikipedia article... Gaedheal (talk) 23:59, 3 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

  • relevant citations can always be added (with DOI's would even be better). Some of the images in the second part are of poorer quality but deletion is not an option, they should be redrawn / transfered to tables. You could consider placing a note explaining the Nguyen name. • The thing is, I don't know what the sources are, though it seems likely some of them are the ones mentioned in the text. I don't think it follows the Wikipedia guidelines. I've seen some other articles (with more traffic) undergo some rather large modifications to remove such things, and not usually with improvement. But, copyright is what it is... I'm not a lawyer, or anything near it. If this is fine, then great! My ChemDraw skills are novice, at best, and I'll not be trying to redraw these diagrams anytime in the near future. If no one thinks that a mention of the Nguyen surname shouldn't be there, I'll go ahead and add it. Gaedheal (talk) 00:31, 5 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
