Digital collectible card game
editA distinction should be made. Artifact is different from Hearthstone and other similar online card games in which the cards can be sold and/or purchased. 35.46.92.14 (talk) 00:35, 9 October 2018 (UTC)
- Doesn't change it from being a digital collectible card game. Lead covers that pretty clearly. -- ferret (talk) 00:44, 9 October 2018 (UTC)
- Not a player of Hearthstone (or any other card game really), but as cards can be purchased for both games, I don't really see a big distinction? Unless I'm misunderstanding. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 22:19, 9 October 2018 (UTC)
I'm inclined to agree with OP - there is actually a distinction between CCGs (Collectible Card Game) and TCGs (Trading Card Game) - and Artifact is commonly and mistaken referred to as the former when it is, in fact, the later. Traditionally the cards in a CCG cannot be traded and, as such, have no monetary value - for this reason, they can be given away freely. TCG cards can be traded and are almost never given away freely. Most TCGs are physical games, and most digital card games are CCGs - but exceptions exist. Wikipedia's own entry on CCGs uses the terms interchangeably, which I believe to be incorrect. --2A02:C7D:59A4:A100:49A8:572C:260F:6197 (talk) 23:27, 6 April 2019 (UTC) Shadeslay
Release update
editSo now that the game has officially launched, I'd like to request somebody who actually plays the game to help go over the gameplay section, which was written based on previews from months ago and overly simplified due to the mechanics not being fully explained at the time. Any takers? ~ Dissident93 (talk) 21:32, 28 November 2018 (UTC)
- There's one problem with that section. "Each deck contains 40 cards, including five heroes and at least nine items ...". This is not precise - a deck consists of: 5 Hero cards, minimum 40 Spell, Creep and Improvement cards (there is no upper limit) and at least 9 Item cards (again, no upper limit). Most of the time people play a deck with exactly 40 cards and 9 items cards, but in rare situations, it might be beneficial to play more. Aside of this, gameplay section is correct. - So "Each deck contains a minimum of five heroes, nine items, and a number of creep and improvement cards for a total of at least 40 ..." would be more accurate? And are they actually called "improvement" cards in the game? ~ Dissident93 (talk) 21:54, 8 December 2018 (UTC)
Poster vs logo
editI updated the poster to use the one that is currently used (though cropped) for the banner/header on the Steam store. Is this suitable? Otherwise we could revert to just the logo, or use said store banner. Lordtobi (✉) 22:03, 28 November 2018 (UTC)
- I think I slighty prefer the newer one, as it's closer to the Steam banner, but the infobox documentation does state that "When cover designs differ between regions, use the cover from the region associated with the game's first English language release, though do not change another English-language version that has been uploaded first.". ~ Dissident93 (talk) 22:27, 28 November 2018 (UTC)
- I'd argue that's to prevent an edit war. Unlikely I'll edit war with myself. Otherwise this is the "cover art" of the first English release, while the one before was only promotional. The question is, really, whether we should use the poster or the cropped version from the Store. Lordtobi (✉) 22:31, 28 November 2018 (UTC)
- True, in that case I think it's better to keep it as is, rather than just upload the cropped Steam version. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 22:38, 28 November 2018 (UTC)
Awards table
editYou have been told before that award tables should not be used when they only include a few entries and are now edit warring over this, so I'm asking you to stop. Having a table with only three entries takes up extra space for nothing that a single, small sentence in prose can't handle better. It does not matter if you created it or not, you should know to reformat yourself if you ever see it like that. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 20:22, 17 February 2019 (UTC)
Mobile releases in the infobox
editSo while the Android and iOS versions have not been officially cancelled despite the game basically being put on hold, does anybody else think they should just not be in the infobox until we get another update? The lead and release sections would still mention they exist, of course. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 18:55, 31 October 2019 (UTC)
- Yes, in this situation where we know a good deal of reworking is going on behind the scenes that has stalled dev, removing those makes sense until Valve recommits. --Masem (t) 18:59, 31 October 2019 (UTC)
Include pirated movie and tv streams as part of its play response
editHello, the mention of the twitch.tv catagory use included pornography but illegal streams of movie and television was also a large part of it too. This should be included. LemonLime1000 (talk) 06:21, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
