Bisexual/GLBT/GLAAD Award categories

I don't see any information in the article backing the inclusion of any of these categories. Has she said she's bisexual? Assuming someone is bisexual because of one failed relationship is not within Wikipedia's rules for biographies, particularly when the person in question admitted to suffering from mental illness at the time. 67.233.235.81 (talk) 19:05, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

I've removed the LGBT cats, again. Per WP:BLPCAT policy, they should not be reintroduced without a reliable source being added to the article that contains corresponding public self-identification by Heche. --JN466 14:47, 14 August 2011 (UTC)
The categories made their way back into the article. I removed the bisexual categories, but left in the LGBT ones because she was in a same-sex relationship and, to my knowledge, has not stated that she is heterosexual; she's been somewhat ambiguous about her sexual orientation. Including or leaving in LGBT categories in cases where the subject has been in one or more same-sex relationships but has not explicitly/publicly identified their sexual orientation is a common (but debatable) route to take. If an editor feels that those should be removed as well, however, feel free to remove them of course. Flyer22 (talk) 10:26, 9 May 2014 (UTC)

"Compromised"?

The article lead states that her career was "compromised by her same-sex relationship with Ellen Degeneres." I'm assuming that "compromised" here is intended to mean "affected negatively," but there's exactly zero evidence to support this. You could just as easily argue that her relationship with Degeneres raised her profile significantly. Surely this needs some kind of sourcing if nothing else (i.e., "Heche believes that...") --Jfruh (talk) 22:07, 21 November 2011 (UTC)

I agree. "Compromised" is the wrong word here.Catherinejarvis (talk) 15:44, 2 December 2011 (UTC)

I just read that line myself and didn't like the way it sounded and changed it. Mylittlezach (talk) 23:09, 4 December 2011 (UTC)

I believe the part about being "negatively affected" and "losing film offers" because of her relationship with Degeneres should be removed, since the majority of her roles have come after the relationship ended and her career is continuing to this day.Catherinejarvis (talk) 20:04, 20 October 2012 (UTC)

I have removed that from the lead, only because it clearly causes confusion among the readers. The relationship with DeGeneres did indeed ruin her career (yes, she still works, but almost every movie she has done has been for television or straight-to-DVD). I elaborated on this in the "career" section so it can be thoroughly understood by readers.Roses1sleep (talk) 01:03, 25 April 2013 (UTC)

Archiving discussion

I've created /Archive 1 post the recent deletion of comments. It's better to archive, rather than delete, so discussion remains easily searchable. --Lexein (talk) 06:36, 25 April 2013 (UTC)

Anne Heche had more than two starring roles. She starred in Volcano. I don't know in what universe her role would be considered only "supporting." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.242.114.255 (talk) 03:48, 31 May 2013 (UTC)

Negativity

First off: I'm aware this has been said before and has been archived. I feel however it still applies in the current state. I'm not familiar with wikipedia rules regarding entries about (famous) persona. This article and in particular the depth of her mental state seem somewhat private (especially the style of the 'psychological problems'. I'm aware she made public statements elaborating her behavior but for me, personally, this entry feels more like a gossip article than encyclopedic content. I think this stems from the fact the entry is populated by quotes from interviews (from magazines). Instead of directly quoting paraphrasing & summarizing might make it better (the career part is better in this respect). It's just a suggestion and by all means, please remove my comment if I'm wrong. 2001:6F8:14A3:2:4FB:9680:5651:C14C (talk) 05:14, 1 June 2013 (UTC)

External links

I removed the following links:
The "External links" section is not a "dumping ground" for links, an advertising section for the continual adding of certain sites that do not provide anything "additional", inadvertently (hopefully) providing site assistance in some marketing strategy, or a holding pen for any site that "might" be a possible reference. These can be added here on the talk page.
Per WP:ELBURDEN: Disputed links should normally be excluded by default unless and until there is a consensus to include them. Any sites added back should follow a discussion and consensus. -- Otr500 (talk) 00:33, 6 May 2020 (UTC)
