Official Photo: Consensus? edit

Hello All, This is the photo linked in his official governor website (governor.ky.gov) as a downloadable file. I'm not an expert on the copyright status of government officials' portraits that are put on their websites, but if it isn't, I'd recommend having this as the lead image. But let me know if it is copyrighted and can't be done—I don't want to change anything before we are absolutely sure. Thanks a bunch! --Negrong502 (talk) 22:47, 10 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Deletion lacking rationale edit

An editor made a deletion here. But oddly - no rationale was offered. Please explain or self revert, or it seems proper to revert. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Andy_Beshear&diff=1057317947&oldid=1057314682 --2603:7000:2143:8500:1E5:3EC8:396:C48 (talk) 07:20, 27 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Ref needed edit

This may well be true. But needs a ref. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Andy_Beshear&diff=1057597339&oldid=1057558289

Reference added. NorthBySouthBaranof (talk) 20:25, 28 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
Perfect. We just have to be on guard I think about people adding unreferenced material. --2603:7000:2143:8500:BDEA:1BA8:E99E:5290 (talk) 20:33, 28 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
Actually, taking a second look, this ref does not work. It violates Wp:synth, which has plagued much of the article, leading to proper deletions of text it supported. Can you find a non-synth ref? If not, the text should go, and we should rely on a link to a well-written article on the subject for extraneous clarity that doesn’t violate synth. Either of throes ways work. . --2603:7000:2143:8500:D4AA:51D:6D4A:C220 (talk) 06:48, 30 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
SYNTH prohibits creating novel conclusions. What is the purported novel conclusion here? NorthBySouthBaranof (talk) 15:10, 30 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Thats not quite what synth says. If it were, all manner of helpful synth deletions made by user:Neutrality here would not be made, because they don’t meet your test of “creating novel conclusions”. Perhaps he can take a look and join in here. He’s really good. 2603:7000:2143:8500:8457:8730:2EA:A0F (talk) 06:56, 1 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Deletion edit

The deleted material here appears relevant. First we have what he said he intended to do. Next, we have data relating to (in his first year) where KY stood in that regard. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Andy_Beshear&diff=1057597903&oldid=1057597572

I disagree; to cherry-pick a single date from the depths of the COVID-19 pandemic is WP:UNDUE. One would need to discuss the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the national and worldwide steps taken to respond to it which caused much of the unemployment, and resulting changes in the unemployment rate as pandemic measures change. Unemployment in Kentucky is now 4.2 percent and that would need to be discussed as well. NorthBySouthBaranof (talk) 20:31, 28 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
I agree with adding the current rate, while also reflecting where that stands nationwide as in the original reference (while also keeping the prior material). That's certainly also keenly relevant. I don't see your point to be fair about the pandemic here. The entry you deleted is of interest to readers I believe not because of the rate itself, but because of where it stood at that time during his tenure relative to other states. That's the key point of interest. And it hooks in directly because it relates to what his economic goals were. The same points of course relate to the most recent such statistics during his tenure. But, in short, both relevant, and relevant irrespective of cause insofar as they relate to standing vis-a-vis other states. Cheers. 2603:7000:2143:8500:BDEA:1BA8:E99E:5290 (talk) 20:37, 28 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Added the word "Damage" edit

I hope this is ok, under the rent section it talked about making it illegal to "cause more $500 to a property". I presumed the word 'damage' was missing? It could be to add $500 to a rent? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.158.96.80 (talk) 19:15, 11 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Moderate claim edit

Whether a politician is moderate or not is a subjective claim, that at least has to be backed up by reliable, independent sources. The Wikipedia isn't to be used for injecting our personal biases. Stefen Towers among the rest! GabGruntwerk 17:19, 8 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
