I think the AAU profiles for these hops varieties are wrong.

I've got Northern Brewer and Willamette in front of me and they are quite different

I'm going to change them to the more reasonable numbers that I gleaned from BrewDudes.com and match with my own numbers (from F.H Steinbart's in Portland)

Trying to clean up this page, such an important part of beer chemistry!! Benauxier (talk) 12:41, 30 March 2011 (UTC)benauixerReply

Reading up on this, it seems it would be best do delete this page. Instead have it redirect right to the Hops page in Alpha acid section. Unless someone else would like to get more into the chemistry of it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Benauxier (talkcontribs) 02:14, 1 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

This page could reference Alpha hydroxy acid since the alpha acids discussed here appear to fit the description of a carboxylic acid substituted with a hydroxyl group on the adjacent carbon. there is also an existing article on Beta hydroxy acid that seems relevant. --Zqrrld (talk) 19:59, 22 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

To add to article edit

Basic information to add to this article (in order to help make it more properly encyclopedic): why exactly it's called an "alpha acid," who discovered alpha acid, and when alpha acid was discovered. 173.88.246.138 (talk) 22:13, 30 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
