Not first openly gay in Division I edit

Outsports says "There has never been a publicly out gay player in the NFL or Division I college football."[1]. NY Times says "which might have led to notice as the first out player in major college football, had anyone noted the historic cultural relevance."[2] SportsGird says "There has never been a publicly, openly gay, active player in the NFL or Division I college football."[3] The implication seems to be that since nobody other than his team knew, sources aren't call him "openly" or "publicly" gay in college. Yahoo says "From 2008-11, it had the first openly gay college football player on its roster, but never went public about it", but it seems to be the exception.[4]Bagumba (talk) 02:23, 26 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
