it's a very good song. Yeah. Nice song. meaningful lyrics.
Please do not include personal inerpretations of the lyrics. This site and article are supposed to be facts, not guesses.

On the Mr. Show Season 3 Disk 2 dvd 10th episode commentary Bob Odenkirk said that this song is based on their skit of hospitalized adam who jumped into a vat of acid where his whole body was a small bloody lanky thing and the band Titanica made a song telling him to kill himself again and they titled it (adams song)

I think stuff like "However, many fans feel that aspects of the lyrics are sloppy, alternating between genuinely moving lines and non-sensical drivel. An example is the line 'Remember the time I spilled the cup, of apple juice, in the hall. Please tell mom this is not her fault'." should be removed. It makes sense, if you think about it. The story teller is remembering things they did which may have made them feel bad or upset other people (I know I do, especially when I'm feeling down. I would agree, but surely when you are about to kill yourself and are reflecting over things that they regret doing, spilling apple juice is a little odd.
Re above: When I was thinking about killing myself, the mundane moments of my life took on a new meaning. They reminded me of a serenity that I felt was missing from my life. Personally I feel that passage isn't back up by much and should be removed. --Jimmy C. 04:57, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

I agree with the guy who said that mundane things took new meaning. ive been (heavily) considering suicide lately and things like spilling stuff makes me feel guilty. I remember a time when i spilled a whole bottle of coke on our carpet and i feel really bad about it now. The only thing i would change is from "pplease tell mom this isnt her fault" to "please tell mom this is her fault". I hate my parents

A couple of things: Who said this? There are no sources. There is no period at the end. "adam" needs to be capitalized.
Its not capitalized becuase it symbolizes the carelessness of him by the people in his life.

The end where it says that the line "is similar" to come as you are, I think that should be changed to something like "might be a reference to" or "may have been referencing". The fact that it is similar is almost irrelevant. The line "The song deals with depression, and not suicide like many others think," is unverified, and, considering the song was based on a suicide note, doesn't really make sense. I'm removing it for now. freakified (talk) 21:55, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

Umm.... in what "version" is the song 3:33? I own both CD's (enema of the state) and (Greatest Hits) and the song is the full 4:10 in both. Or, is it the EP? I'm confused..... even the music video is the 4:10 version!Gyrferret (talk) 01:19, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
"Hanged" or "Hung"
In this article's history, I've noticed ( e.g., here, here, or here) that there's been some dispute about whether the proper word for describing the suicide of Greg Barnes is "hanged" or "hung". The correct word for is "hanged". Per List of commonly misused English words#E to H, "pictures are hung and criminals are hanged". Jwesley78 05:09, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
