"N/A" or "No Leader" edit

This page and other pages on Victorian local elections (i haven't checked other states) are using a combination of "N/A" and "No leader" when describing the absence of a leader in the infobox

Which one works better? Auspol4 (talk) 13:25, 6 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

"N/A" refers to parties with leaders but who are not relevant at the local level, "No leader" means the party just does not have a leader Totallynotarandomalt69 (talk) 22:46, 6 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Libertarian Party's abbreviation edit

Totallynotarandomalt69 why have you changed the Libertarian Party's abbreviation to "LBT"? It’s clear from the party's page and its logo that its abbreviation is "LP". What you are doing is adding original research. Helper201 (talk) 18:04, 19 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

I'm using "LBT" based off the general style of abbreviations used in election image fillers, plus the ABC uses it: https://www.abc.net.au/news/elections/mulgrave-by-election-2023/results
The Parliament House website has "LP" as the Liberal abbreviation and "AG" as the Greens abbreviation but we don't use either of them for election filler images: https://www.aph.gov.au/senators_and_members/guidelines_for_contacting_senators_and_members/los
IMO apart from being used by the ABC, the three-letter abbreviation generally looks better
If you want to open up a discussion on the Libertarian Party talk page I'm happy to engage Totallynotarandomalt69 (talk) 22:05, 19 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Totallynotarandomalt69 I think discussing it where this is in use is more appropriate than the party's page. I think we should go with what the party itself is using, which as you say is also backed up by a third-party source. It seems very odd to me to use an abbreviation that differs from what is so prominently used in big bold letters in its logo. Also, we appear to use each party logo's where available in the infobox here (as seen by the other parties in the infobox) and given this party's logo is in the public domain we can use it in this infobox without any problems. Also, on a side-note, please ping me when you give a reply. Cheers. Helper201 (talk) 23:09, 19 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
If the logo is in the public domain then would you be happy if it was then just turned into a proper placeholder image instead? Like the Labor, Liberal, Greens ones
Would avoid this entire text abbreviation discussion and I think it'd be a fair compromise Totallynotarandomalt69 (talk) 23:11, 19 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Apologies forgot to ping @Helper201 Totallynotarandomalt69 (talk) 23:14, 19 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Totallynotarandomalt69 sounds good to me. Do you know how to convert it and are you willing to do that please? Helper201 (talk) 23:16, 19 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Helper201 I'm able to make the image but not sure where to upload? It can't be uploaded to Commons per copyright on the original upload Totallynotarandomalt69 (talk) 23:50, 19 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Totallynotarandomalt69 hmm, I would've thought since its public domain you could just re-upload a new version to the Commons. I'd suggest asking at the Commons:Help desk. Helper201 (talk) 01:00, 20 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
