Having the article protected and semi protected?

Spencer H. Karter (talk) 22:06, 21 February 2016 (UTC)Is it supposed to be The Free Encyclopedia? It doesn't like free, it sounds like sort-of false advertising besides being a non-profit. Why did you have this article protected and later protected? That's not common sense. Saying this in protest, the protection thing must be removed! Spencer H. Karter (talk) 22:06, 21 February 2016 (UTC)

You again?!? I will re-iterate what was told to you over at the 2015 page: "It is free, but people also have to follow the rules. Too many people didn't follow the rules, so they had to restrict this article so only people who do follow the rules can edit it." Also, read the edit history of the article. And one last thing, discussions like these are disruptive and only waste other editors' time. ElectricBurst(Electron firings)(Zaps) 22:49, 21 February 2016 (UTC)

Merle Haggard and Blackjack Mulligan not mentioned in deaths section

Why musician Merle Haggard (who passed away earlier this week) and Pro-Wrestler Blackjack Mulligan aren't mentioned in Deaths section of 2016 in American Television? Merle Haggard appeared on TV shows like HEE HAW and Blackjack Mulligan did wrestle on TV. Spencer H. Karter (talk) 04:02, 10 April 2016 (UTC)

Should "person of color" be changed to "black woman"? There's been a persistent edit war between registered users and an IP-hopping editor over this issue.

Arguments in favor of:

Arguments against:

  • Racist

In short, I want you guys to vote "yes" or "no." ElectricBurst(Electron firings)(Zaps) 16:44, 23 February 2016 (UTC)

  • Neither - use African–American: Well first of all, Electricburst1996, I think you should amend this RfC to include the very important detail that this discussion is about how we should refer to Channing Dungey, the EVP of drama at ABC. Seems like there should be more options than "person of color" or "black woman". "Person of color" seems needlessly vague and euphemistic. I don't understand the argument that "Black woman" is racist. Millions of black women identify as "black woman", just as millions of black men identify as "black man". "African-American" is a more general term, but it's not automatically interchangeable with "black woman", since some black women are Canadian, or Somalian, or French, or... That said, Variety refers to her as African-American. "She’s the first African-American to head programming at a major broadcast network." Thus, the article should use the phrasing that comes from the reliable source. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:14, 23 February 2016 (UTC)

Referring to someone by gender and skin color is stating facts, not being racist or sexist. 2602:306:C5E4:24A0:B9D5:7080:6806:2222 (talk) 19:36, 23 February 2016 (UTC)

  • Yes. Change it to "Black woman" (or "Black person" if appropriate).
I agree with Cyphoidbomb that "person of color" seems vague and euphemistic; and also that "Black woman" is not racist. I also agree with 2602:306:C5E4:24A0:B9D5:7080:6806:2222 that referring to someone by gender and skin color is stating facts, not being racist or sexist.

  • Black Woman is preferred. African-American is acceptable "Person of Color" is archaic and only raises the question--- Is she black, brown, yellow, etc.? It is sad that we still need to differentiate each other by skin color but we are not enlightened yet. Buster Seven Talk 07:10, 2 March 2016 (UTC)
  • Yes Summoned by bot. I support using "black woman" or "African-American woman". Those arguing that "black woman" is racist, please explain. Meatsgains (talk) 13:59, 15 March 2016 (UTC)
  • Yes Summoned by bot. I support using "black woman" or "African-American woman". "Person of colour" is distinctly archaic and euphemistic. 'Black' is perfectly acceptable in UK, but I leave US-ers to decide whether "African-American" is preferred, it has the advantage of stating nationality as well as colour. In context, her gender is unnec as it seems she is the first black person of either gender to rise to this position. If the justification for 'person of colour' is that no 'non-whites' have previously risen to this position, then a better way of saying this should be found.Pincrete (talk) 16:44, 17 March 2016 (UTC)

Barbara Eden died?

Someone added Barbara Eden's name in 2016 deaths section. I've check the news outlets including Variety, E!, and Entertainment Tonight, no mentions.

Nope, she's alive and well. Looks like it was a hoax. TomCat4680 (talk) 06:08, 14 May 2016 (UTC)
