Samantha Johnson (born January 9, 1995), better known by her ring name Samantha Irvin, is an American professional wrestling ring announcer and singer. She is currently signed to WWE.

Early life edit

Samantha Johnson was born on January 9, 1995,[3] in Cape Cod, and she is the oldest among six children.[4] She grew up in Cape Cod, before relocating to New Bedford. Samantha enrolled in Berklee College of Music in Boston; after graduating from high school in 2013.[5][6]

Career edit

In July 2011, Johnson appeared on BET Her's reality web series Got 2B Real, which shows group of popular singers throwing shade and reinvigorating past rivalries.[7][8] She also appeared on Got 2B Trill: The Untold Story, making it the final comeback of Got 2B Real, in 2015.[9] That same year, she was part of the Fremantle talent show competition America's Got Talent.[10]

In 2019, Irvin appeared on the first episode of the American TV series Social Girl, playing the role of Virginia Washington.[11] In December 2020, Johnson joined professional wrestling after being recommended to company officials by Mark Henry.[12] Initially, she wanted to become in-ring competitor but later she transited to announcing.[13][14]

At 26 years old, Johnson her main roster debut under the ring name "Samantha Irivn" on the May 7, 2021, episode of 205 Live on peacock, where she was announced as the new ring announcer.[15] Two months after, on the July 13, episode of NXT, Irvin appeared as an interviewer with casts involving Von Wagner and Briana Brandy.[16]
