Bronze medal – third place 1964 Tokyo C-1 1000 m

At the 1964 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan, Penyayev secured a bronze medal in the C-1 1000 m category, finishing just 0.42 seconds behind the silver medalist. This close finish underscored the highly competitive nature of the event and highlighted Penyayev's skill and determination as a canoeist. His performance in Tokyo contributed to the Soviet Union's strong showing in canoeing during that period.[1][2]

Beyond the Olympics, Penyayev also competed in other international competitions, although detailed records of these events are less well-documented. His athletic career is part of the broader history of Soviet dominance in canoeing during the mid-20th century, a period when Soviet athletes consistently performed at the top levels in various disciplines.

After retiring from active competition, Penyayev's contributions to the sport continued through various roles, though specific details about his post-competition career are not widely available. His legacy is remembered as part of the rich history of Soviet and Russian canoeing.
