While it should not be a manual, in the sense of instructing the user on techniques and methods, there is nothing wrong with providing lists of reference material. Many readers of an encyclopedia are trying to look up a fact they once knew, but cannot quite remember. Was Stagecoach (film) released in 1939 or 1940? Do you make text bold with font-style: bold; or font-weight: bold; in CSS?
