Just out of curiosity, after Other than that... well, remember this guy? He's been keeping me from seeing my father for three years. anthropomorphized COVID, did anyone else read the rest of the paragraph (permalink) with "he" referring to COVID rather than the author's father? I agree. An unsignalled change in what the he/him pronoun is referring to is always going to be confusing. "It's been keeping me from ...." would have avoided the confusion, which instead continued with "Finally saw him ...." which reads as though the writer had caught COVID, which then seemed to be a strange thing to be happy about.
