RPG's on the Wii

I'm curious, does the Wii have any Role Playing Games to speak of yet? I know that there is a Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles on the horizon and a Dragon Quest, but what about other games? Does anyone know of anything? --ZeWrestler Talk 19:55, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

Well, I know there are several on the Virtual Console, but I don't know about full Wii Games. I'll check. --Filovirus 20:10, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
Hmm. It appears that there aren't any normal RPGs on the Wii yet. A few games have some RPG elements, but nothing too substantial yet. --Filovirus 20:10, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
Oh! I just remembered something. There is a Fire Emblem game coming to Wii in about two weeks, I think. --Filovirus 20:12, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

STARMAN.net

This has been on my mind a good long time. I've been a long subscriber to Nintendo power, and I distinly remember an article on Earthbound. In it was a pretty decent note about Starman.net, notably the petition. A little while later I found Wikipedia. Only recently have I been going through my old issues, and came back to the Starman.net. Never being at the site, I decided to go to it. While there, I noticed they have been referenced, mentioned and outright explained in many many magazine various times. Pretty much, I was thinking these were notable enough to give Starman.net. I've also noticed a true lack of Nintendo fansite articles, and Starman.net is easily one of the most referenced, most acknowledged and one be the easiest to prove "notable." So, I propose that you consider an article for the fansite. Using the good half dozen magazine references, IGN references, and the comments from Miyamoto himself, I believe it would hold up as notable. I ask before attempting to create one because I know little to nothing about Mother or the site, and would hate work wasted if deleted Balladofwindfishes 01:00, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

Kirby Merge

User:TTN is wanting to merge several major Kirby characters into the article, Characters in the Kirby video game series. I wanted to make sure this had a group consensus before he committed the act did 'em in. ;u) --Is this fact...? 10:19, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

"Committed the act", this isn't murder, you know ;-). Please be more specific; which articles are you talking about? Ashnard Talk Contribs 10:51, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

I don't know about most of them but I think that DDD and Meta's articles are too notable to be merged like this. S/He said that it going to be done because there wasn't enough real world information to keep them. --Is this fact...? 11:30, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

At a quick glance most of them don't assert any notability in the articles. DDD's an Meta Knight's are different because of SSBB and may require further debate, but it is likely that both will be merged unless there is any further proof of notability. Ashnard Talk Contribs 13:40, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

How does one verify notability? --Is this fact...? 00:39, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

Whatever is going to be merged, consider transwiking them first to something like the Kirby wikia. « ₣ullMetal ₣alcon » 15:40, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

With references to secondary sources that show the subject is notable beyond its own universe. Ashnard Talk Contribs 07:49, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
Better to be merged together instead of deleted for lack of notability, lets make one good article. Judgesurreal777 03:57, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
People forget that if something would bring too much attention to an article, or make it too big, it would get it's own article. Dedede and Meta do that because of their roles in the game. 24.97.197.161 (talk) 13:34, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

All URLs to Nintendo.com news articles that are used as sources in Wiki articles will lead to a "Not Found" page, since the layout of http://www.nintendo.com has been changed, so those URLs in articles will need to be changed to the correct URL. --Silver Edge (talk) 09:08, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

The TfD may have already been over with, but just to let you know, nintendo.com did archive their old site on their register.nintendo.com subdomain, save for the main site. It's somewhat complete; http://register.nintendo.com/gamemini?gameid=m-Game-0000-249 actually goes to the Super Mario 64 page. So archive.org does not need to be used, just go to http://register.nintendo.com/gamelist instead. --Geopgeop (T) 19:51, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

Deletion discussion

Article creation proposal

A World of Super Mario or Universe of the Super Mario Brothers series article is very much needed, as the articles Bowser's Castle, Mushroom Kingdom, Star Road, Question blocks, Fire Flower, Items in Super Mario Bros., and Mushroom (Mario) have demonstrated zero notability on their own, and this would be the best way to keep them from being picked off one by one. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 06:51, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

  • Support This would be a colossal undertaking though. Citations from websites, magazines, interviews, etc. from every game? Sheesh. Just thinking about it gives me a headache. I think we do need a universe article, instead of a world article, since Mario visits worlds other than the Mushroom Planet, such as Subcon or Earth. Taric25 (talk) 13:47, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
  • Support This would be an excellent article. However, the scope is incredibly large and complicated. And with the introduction of Super Mario Galaxy a universe article is much needed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by BRiCKDuDE102692 (talkcontribs) 18:49, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Edited a couple of things

I've edited some things on the Golden Sun article. I think it helps the article some, though the article itself is a bit in-depth for a Wiki article, I feel. The changes I have made can be found at the bottom of the Golden Sun discussion page. If anyone has a problem with the changes, please let me know and we'll make it better than I did. FlamingZelda (talk) 10:33, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

With all due respect, wouldn't this post be better placed at Golden Sun's talk page? Ashnard Talk Contribs 12:19, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
Probably so, but since the Golden Sun page is part of the WikiProject Nintendo, I thought maybe it should go here. Go ahead and delete this if this is the wrong place for it. As now thinking about it, anyone worried about the Golden Sun page has a watch on it and would see my edit there anyway. FlamingZelda (talk) 21:39, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Mario Kart North American Release Date

A debate is currently in progress on the talk page of Mario Kart Wii about the North American release date. Currently Nintendo has not officially announced a release date, however it is being debated as to whether the release date should be listed as TBA or if one of the release dates on site like IGN (which lists April 28) or 1up (which lists April 15) or others should be used. WikiProject Nintendo: Articles of unclear notability

Hello,

there are currently 12 articles in the scope of this project which are tagged with notability concerns. I have listed them here. (Note: this listing is based on a database snapshot of 12 March 2008 and may be slightly outdated.)

I would encourage members of this project to have a look at these articles, and see whether independent sources can be added, whether the articles can be merged into an article of larger scope, or possibly be deleted. Any help in cleaning up this backlog is appreciated. For further information, see Wikipedia:WikiProject Notability.

If you have any questions, please leave a message on the Notability project page or on my personal talk page. (I'm not watching this page however.) Thanks! --B. Wolterding (talk) 16:39, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

It would be extremely difficult for the Sinnoh and Johto articles, for the most reliable sources are the games themselves. Ergo, they need a large amount of help. Anyone else want to lend a hand? brickdude^_^ 18:56, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
I mentioned it in the vg project talk page, but will here as well: the Pokemon sections need a lot of the FAQ stuff cut out and to be combined into one better article. Game Lists

OK -- This might not be quite in scope here, as this group seems to focus more on games specifically produced by Nintendo. But, its not far off scope.

I've been working on the List of Super Nintendo Entertainment System games and List of Super Famicom games, trying to create a complete list of all officially released games, with appropriate links to the various individual game pages. SNES is pretty much complete, and SFC is currently under heavy edit. (I'm mostly complete through 'F', with later parts being incomplete in various forms)

For SFC, I'm also trying to identify those games that either saw an official release or a complete (or nearly complete) fan translation.

At this point, I'd welcome feedback, especially concerning page layout and usefulness of the information currently found in these lists. ~~ Dawynn (talk) 19:40, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

I realize it's much sleeker and concise to use flags instead of other symbols, but isn't the consensus in the VG wikiproject to not use flags as they are not accurate enough (flag of USA omits Canada, flag of Europe omits Australasia, etc.)? Kariteh (talk) 11:32, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
Flags have been stripped off. Partly because of the guidelines, partly because they were slowing down the load of the page. Also, where individual carts were produced both for Europe in general, and for individual European countries, I consolidated those as just 'EU'. I have also added the SNES list as a Wikitendo page, since the SFC list already was. ~~ Dawynn (talk) 12:31, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

Template:WikiProject Nintendo

FYI, but the template doesn't have parameters to put things into list, category, template or image classes if people want. Note that a number of articles in Category:Unassessed Nintendo articles actually have these classes instead. Either they should all be put into NA class or separate classes should be created. I'd suggest at least List (since Featured List is a category) and Image classes (would be helpful to have and possibility of features images as a class are there). -- Ricky81682 (talk) 00:35, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Pokémon GA Sweeps Review: On Hold

As part of the WikiProject Good Articles, we're doing sweeps to go over all of the current GAs and see if they still meet the GA criteria and I'm specifically going over all of the "Culture and Society" articles. I have reviewed Pokémon and believe the article currently meets the majority of the criteria and should remain listed as a Good article. I have left this message at this WikiProject's talk page so that any interested members can assist in helping the article keep its GA status. In reviewing the article, I have found there are some issues that may need to be addressed, and I'll leave the article on hold for seven days for them to be fixed. I have left messages on the talk pages of the main contributors of the article and several other WikiProjects. Please consider helping address the several points that I listed on the talk page of the article, which shouldn't take too long to fix if multiple editors assist in the workload. If you have any questions, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Happy editing! --Nehrams2020 (talk) 08:15, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

Articles flagged for cleanup

Currently, 525 of the articles assigned to this project, or 46.7%, are flagged for cleanup of some sort. (Data as of 18 June 2008.) Are you interested in finding out more? I am offering to generate cleanup to-do lists on a project or work group level. See User:B. Wolterding/Cleanup listings for details. Subsribing is easy - just add a template to your project page. If you want to respond to this canned message, please do so at my user talk page. --B. Wolterding (talk) 18:04, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

Note that a fair amount of game articles in this project does not belong here because they are not published by Nintendo or any of Nintendo's 1st or 2nd party developers. I think some users have been confused in adding game articles that are not supposed to be (i.e. adding the {{NESProj}} template) because they thought this project pertained to any NES game (mostly due to the name of the template), which is not the case.
I'm working on the List of Nintendo Entertainment System games and expanding it. At the same time, I'm going through all the games on that list and removing said template from those who should not belong in this WikiProject. MuZemike (talk) 21:44, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
Now that I think of it more, it is possible that a Bot could have marked all those articles I was just mentioning and not separate users, which makes sense. MuZemike (talk) 00:50, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Changes to the WP:1.0 assessment scheme

As you may have heard, we at the Wikipedia 1.0 Editorial Team recently made some changes to the assessment scale, including the addition of a new level. The new description is available at WP:ASSESS.

  • The new C-Class represents articles that are beyond the basic Start-Class, but which need additional references or cleanup to meet the standards for B-Class.
  • The criteria for B-Class have been tightened up with the addition of a rubric, and are now more in line with the stricter standards already used at some projects.
  • A-Class article reviews will now need more than one person, as described here.

Each WikiProject should already have a new C-Class category at Category:C-Class_articles. If your project elects not to use the new level, you can simply delete your WikiProject's C-Class category and clarify any amendments on your project's assessment/discussion pages. The bot is already finding and listing C-Class articles.

Please leave a message with us if you have any queries regarding the introduction of the revised scheme. This scheme should allow the team to start producing offline selections for your project and the wider community within the next year. Thanks for using the Wikipedia 1.0 scheme! For the 1.0 Editorial Team, §hepBot (Disable) 21:10, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
