square's publishing arm in europe

there are a few innacuracies but i cannot find RS's except the back of the game cases and games themselves, but Square Europe published FF8 and FF9 (not platinum), not Sony in Europe (they both display on load "Published by Square Europe Ltd". Therefore the FF8 article and the Square Enix holdings articles have innacuracies - KH2 was obviously not 'one of the first' self published games chocobogamer mine 18:25, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

All companies, including branches, have to register a trademark, so one should exist. Check the date it was applied for.じんない 22:32, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

havent looked specifically but a google search yeilds results including box art, the script and several fan-sites stating the same fact. also, the ff9 page shows that square europe published it, also ehrgeiz, parasite eve 2 and others. therefore the claim that they didnt self publish until kh2 is completely wrong. chocobogamer mine 11:00, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Merger proposal

At WT:VG, we're jumpstarting our inactive/limited-scope project initiative, which is aimed at streamlining and centralizing video game coverage on Wikipedia. What I'd like to do is talk with members of the SE project and determine if you're interested in becoming a task force within WP:VG, possibly merging with the Final Fantasy project. Joining WP:VG would allow us to centralize discussion on Square Enix articles and hopefully expose all video game articles to a wider range of editors. The way I look at it, there are several options:

Nothing happens. VG and SE remain as-is.

SE merges with VG and becomes the Square Enix taskforce.

FF and SE merge with VG and become the Final Fantasy taskforce.

FF and SE merge with VG and become the Square Enix taskforce. This would be the best option, in my opinion—it would create an ideal taskforce, one with a large scope and hopefully many active members.

Merge SE and FF back together. Whether it's a TF or WP can be decided by the size and scope, but the split of FF off has drained this WP of a lot of active members who while they might contribute more to FF, might also have opinions on other series.じんない 07:47, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

Merge SE and FF into SE project. SE covers tons of manga, anime, etc. so it wouldn't work well as a taskforce of the VG project. Megata Sanshiro (talk) 14:45, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

Merge them together, keep as a WP - FF was never "split off" from SE, it's been around for years- SE was created with the intention that eventually FF would be merged into it, whenever it stopped being more active on its own than SE was as a whole. Since SE has never really been to active, I think it makes the most sense to upmerge FF into it. --PresN 19:27, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here.

If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. How is Riven under Square Enix

Riven, like Tomb Raider III, was translated and published by Enix in Japan. I think we should have a consensus on games not developed by Square Enix, because they recently said they will publish Ubisoft titles in Japan and that could mean a lot of articles here. If I recall correctly, there are some titles like Odin Sphere which is published in the EU by Square Enix, even though it was developed by Atlus. What do you think should be done? — Blue。 05:14, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

I feel like we should narrow the project's scope the games developed by Square/Enix/SE, and drop the ones published by. It just doesn't seem to be what this project's about, and only comes up when someone notices a GA/FA that has SE listed as a publisher. Sounds good. So basically: Scope = video games developed by Square/Square Enix and related articles (Characters, Discography, things like FFVII AC, etc.). Not scope = video games developed by Enix/Square Enix, people, manga. Megata Sanshiro (talk) 13:32, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Um, not sure about that one. I'd leave in the people, and I don't think you meant to say developed both times. Scope = video games developed by Square/Square Enix and related articles, including articles about the people involved. Okay, we seem to all be in agreement. This scope change will drop from the Index the Dragon Quest series, Everquest 2, Fullmetal Alchemist, Grandia, Quintet, Star Ocean, Valkyrie Profile, the "other manga and anime" section, and a good chunk of the "other Square/Enix/SE" sections. It will leave behind All Star Pro-Wrestling, Chrono, Code Age, Final Fantasy, Front Mission, Kingdom Hearts, Mana, Parasite Eve, Saga, Xenogears, and whatever one-offs are left. I'm going to start on it now, if anyone has any changes to the scope they'd like made, just say so. --PresN 20:14, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Done. We now have 305 pages listed as being under our scope. I'd like for people to give their opinions on the "people" section- It makes sense for use to have people like Uematsu and such, but I'm not sure about former presidents of Square or random programmers or translators. --PresN 22:59, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Eidos is going to be run as a completely seperate entity, not even in the same vein as Taito - Taito's CEO, directors etc are the same as Square, Eidos's team will still be the team it is now and will still be based in Britain. chocobogamer mine 18:01, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
