Norton Sound edit

I have completed my inputs to the above article. May be Dr. B could fix the Norton Sound map showing location of the bay in an infobox. I tried but could not do it properly. Fish Creek (Alaska) also needs to be expanded. I have added some text and will add more soon.--Nvvchar. 04:24, 20 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I added some text today. Pl see and may need more.--Nvvchar. 14:10, 20 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

I have nominated Wildlife of Mali and Norton Bay. I almost forgot about this Wildlife of Rwanda. Restarted today and you may like to add to make it 5x.--Nvvchar. 04:31, 21 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

I don't understand what more Tony expects to be addressed in these three articles COMINAK, SOMAIR, Akokan, Niger. Can uyou kindly look into the issue and resolve it. If it is map then we do not have a map showing all locations in one map.--Nvvchar. 02:10, 22 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

I have completed Wildlfe of Rwanda. You may like to see the additions made and then nominate.--Nvvchar. 04:17, 22 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Fish River edit

What is the problem with the DYK nom??♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 13:55, 22 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Seems like maybe they want another reviewer as the article has been improved in the meantime. Or I could be clueless. --Rosiestep (talk) 03:48, 23 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Wildlife of Rwanda edit

Looks good; looks ready. But are we going to wait until Day 5? --Rosiestep (talk) 04:05, 23 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

The ref looks a bit strange, with sfn notes and then no book underneath. IUCN and such don't need to be in sfn style do they? If we're using sfn the books should all go underneath.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 10:47, 23 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Book reference also fixed to one book only of Booth.--Nvvchar. 15:29, 23 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Two citations needed to back up quotes.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 13:56, 23 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Citations fixed to two tags.--Nvvchar. 15:19, 23 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
Excellent, thanks. What about the sfn notes, I think normal referencing would be OK for the IUCN and the others, ref 10, 11, 12, 17 .♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 15:36, 23 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Râpa Roșie edit

I've uploaded the missing photo. Citation for quote needed, also full name of Fr. Schuster if possible.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 14:39, 23 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

I have referenced the quote. I found another reference in the Rumanian language which gives the name as Fr. W. Schuster, an archaeologist. The reference is here [1]. Translation is very poor. I have made us of only one sentence in the lead with his reference. May be some one with better knowledge of the langauge could add from this reference as it has lot of inflammation, which could enhance the quality of the article.--Nvvchar. 17:07, 23 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Ask User:Dahn, he might be interested in helping.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 22:11, 23 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Rugezi Marsh edit

Is "pasy" a typo?♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 14:48, 23 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

I would rather delete it as I could not find its meaning.--Nvvchar. 17:08, 23 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

I nomed Rugezi Marsh and Buberuka Highlands. --Rosiestep (talk) 03:36, 26 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

@Dr.B: You may want to add to Buberuka Highlands + add your name to the nom. --Rosiestep (talk) 04:11, 26 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Boxes for Danish churches edit

I am a bit worried about the boxes that have been added to Faxe Church, Haslev Church and Vester Egede Church. Under "Dedication", they are all listed as "Evangelical Lutheran". Dedication normally refers to the saint to which a church has been dedicated at its consecration, not to the branch, movement or denomination. Although a fair number of Danish churches still bear the name of the saint to whom they were dedicated, most simply bear the name of their location (town, village or parish). I would therefore reserve the Dedication line to cases where churches are known for their dedication to a particular saint. That is not the case for these three. I also find the term "Presbytery" rather unusual as a substitute for Diocese which is widely used in church boxes. Lastly, if the map is to be of any practical use to those wishing to see the location of a given church, I think it should be on a larger scale, for example just covering the island of Zealand (or even what the Danes call Sydsjælland) - like the ones Dr. B so kindly developed for Bornholm, Falster and Lolland. Up to now, there have been very few articles about Danish churches with boxes, but if we really want to go for them then I think we should consider the matter carefully and decide what information they should contain. Peter I. Vardy is probably the most experienced Wikipedia editor as far as churches are concerned. A typical example of his use of boxes can be seen at his St Edith's Church, Eaton-under-Heywood where he makes use of a box which not only covers the basic church info but also history, architecture, administration, etc. I am not proposing that a box with such a level of detail would be suitable for the average Danish church but some of the items may be pertinent. Indeed, there may also be good reasons for not using boxes at all, especially as they often have the effect of squeezing the text into a narrow column when other images have been used in the article. So I suppose there are a number of items which need consideration here: 1) Should we systematically use boxes for articles on Danish churches? If so: 2) Which items should be included in a typical box? and 3) How detailed should the map be?

And as for the three churches we are dealing with at the moment, should we try to sort things out now or should we just try to correct the mini-boxes we have today (or perhaps remove them until we decide how to go forward)? I look forward to your comments.--Ipigott (talk) 08:58, 23 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

You are most welcome to delete the info box if you consider them inappropriate. I have no issues.--Nvvchar. 10:02, 23 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Just creating some Vancouver maps, I can create some more localised maps for Denmark if you wish. Just say what you want (agreed on the generic national maps for pin not being appropriate). Template:Location map Denmark Zealand?♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 09:03, 23 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

You map of Zealand looks great. It would also be useful if you could do one for Fyn (Funen). Will let you know later if others are needed. Thanks for your trouble. Any views on boxes for Danish churches?--Ipigott (talk) 11:27, 23 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Only drawback is it's a little dark with a black label on it. I suppose it is OK for now if you suppress the label with "none" on position. I'll do one for Funen once I've set up the Vancouver ones. Infoboxes? I do see the value in displaying a regional map, although infoboxes are intended for the purpose of info primarily of which there is none. Maybe data could be found for them? ♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 11:53, 23 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Template:Location map Denmark Funen there's the Funen one. I tried to make both on OSM but server wouldn't let me. We should have our own high quality mapping system with a decent server which allows you to instantly make quality maps.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 12:32, 23 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

The 5 Danish churches are nomed. --Rosiestep (talk) 03:38, 25 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:Meetup/globalwomen edit

I'll be creating some stubs tomorrow on interesting women. Please jump in after me if you have the time. --Rosiestep (talk) 04:15, 26 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

There's some linked on the page here of notable women winemakers.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 13:12, 26 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

I had a typo in the name Liu-Wang Liming when I created the stub this morning. Someone put a review template on the page, probably as they couldn't find any references with the misspelling. I've fixed the name and expanded the article. If it hasn't happened already, can one of you please rmv the template. --Rosiestep (talk) 04:28, 27 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Tripura stubs edit

I create a fair few short stubs today to fill in blue links in the FAC. Nvv you might be interested in fleshing some of them out, mostly dances and festivals and that.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 20:12, 26 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Fremont Hotel, Los Angeles edit

Spotted this in a Charlie CHaplin movie from 1914! Historic hotel now defunct, but google image it, should be PD, Some of the sources already used should contain more info particularly this. Should be enough to scrape 3kb. for DYK.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 22:25, 26 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

María Jesús Alvarado Rivera edit

There's plenty more content in the es article. I forgot the template to use at the top of the article page which says that. Need to add it to my tools list. --Rosiestep (talk) 00:59, 28 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

"She worked as columnist in 1908 for newspapers like ‘El Diano’, ‘Trade’ and the ‘Press’." Translation looks sus, Trade and Press are unlikely Spanish language newspaper titles, please check.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 12:53, 28 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Can you clarify which dates in which references are clashing? But in general, if dates clash, I'd recommend we use those mentioned in books vs. those mentioned on websites; of course, this wouldn't always be the best solution. --Rosiestep (talk) 19:06, 28 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Mariblanca Sabas Alomá edit

The Aloma Cuban article also has some dubious newspaper translations "She wrote columns in the leftist periodical, Social, and the weekly magazine, Carteles. Can you check Social is a correct translation.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 14:23, 28 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

DYK UK County Challenge edit

Gilderien has suggested Wikipedia:WikiProject Rosblofnari/British Historic County Challenge, I said we could help him out with it. Obviously it would only be one or two articles a week at most. We could also do a similar thing with India and the US, but gradually, nothing to overload us!♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 11:28, 28 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • Is there a category or article(s) that correspond with British Historic Counties? I found Historic counties of England, but obviously, that's only captures some of the counties. --Rosiestep (talk) 17:40, 28 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
    • (edit conflict)Yes, it does, and also with the corresponding counties in Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland - I chose them rather than the current "administrative divisions" because they are horribly complicated, there are hundreds of them and nobody would describe themselves from "redcar and cleveland" but rather "Yorkshire" or whatever else. I pulled the list today from here, which matches what I have seen elsewhere.--Gilderien Chat|List of good deeds 17:46, 28 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Yes. It would probably be easiest to organise this challenge by everyone interested to watchlist the page, and then for people to add new articles to the relevant county's line so that it draws other projecr members attention.--Gilderien Chat|List of good deeds 17:51, 28 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Gilderien, please don't nominate articles like you did with Murray Hill so prematurely again. We work together as a team and generally allow at least 3 days for Rosie and myself to edit articles before nomming.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 12:45, 1 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Ok, sorry. I tend to be a little eager in making sure that the 5-day deadline for nomination is not missed but I see how organised the project is to make sure this doesn't happen.--Gilderien Chat|List of good deeds 15:43, 1 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Tis OK. I forgot Rosie too!♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 18:08, 1 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
