Thoughts about updating this page.
editIMHO, this page should be an introduction to the Libraries WikiProject, that is, for newcomers to the WikiProject, rather than newcomers to Wikipedia. Certainly we should have links to appropriate pages for those who are new to both, but we shouldn't try to duplicate the general Wikipedia pages. It appears the last substantial changes were made in March, 2012, so what's here may well be pretty dated.
Let me put it this way: I'm new to this WikiProject. What should I know about working with you? How may editing your pages be different from editing other Wikipedia pages? What is unique to this WikiProject?
Also, what is the scope of this WikiProject? From what I've seen you seem to cover both pages about Libraries in general, and pages about specific individual libraries. To me, these seem to be two distinct sub-areas, the former of interest to those interested in the profession, and the latter more of interest to one's own geographical area, and occasionally, certain institutions of broad interest, mainly national libraries such as the Library of Congress.
Perhaps an outline of your category structure may be helpful.
Personally, I find that both the Main and Assessment pages are rather "busy", and to be honest, I've yet to study either in great detail. I intend to do so, but first I'm focusing on cleaning up the more obvious cobwebs and patching the major holes. I suspect both pages could be improved by moving some content here, or to provide links to more general Wikipedia pages, rather than attempting to duplicate them.
Thoughts, suggestions and ideas welcome. Thanks!

- Having just joined this wikiproject, I understand your POV, but I also have to say it explains how wikipedia works far better than the official main pages & makes navigating & finding wikipedia policy pages much easier than the main portal. And it's certainly got unique, useful information for LIS professionals that can't really be found anywhere else, so I wouldn't want to substantially change this page - perhaps rename it to "Help". Goals and scope are covered on the main project page, but I agree it's busy, and maybe we should improve that one and rename this one. Ideally, longer term, we should look migrate to the structure of the project pages entirely in my opinion eg see WikiProject Hampshire for one that's got clearer navigation VJ (talk) 13:48, 4 January 2019 (UTC)
