For reference regarding the translation of French articles to English, this page: [[ ]] might be of some use (maybe there can be an eventual redirect and all the useful info from that page can be placed under the French section of this project. How do you upload a translated article? edit

I have had the English language article 'Declaration on the Elimination of Violence Against Women' translated into Portuguese by a friend of mine. She finds it hard to edit Wikipedia and I can't read Portuguese. Is there any way I can upload the translated text to the Portuguese wikipedia? Or is there anybody willing to do it for me? Many thanks Martlayton 20:17, 31 January 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Martlayton (talkcontribs)

This particular project is actually dedicated to translating content from other wikipedias into ENglish, not vice versa. Try google translate into pPortuguese and copy edit it after wards and save it on Portuguese wikipedia but remember to indicate the source for GFDL purposes Dr. Blofeld White cat 22:58, 1 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Anyone? edit

Is there anyone who can create the bot needed now when fritzpoll is gone? Djacku (talk) 15:13, 14 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Can you be more specific? I was planning on writing a bot for this project ages ago, but thankfully Frtizpoll was available to write in first so everyone didn't have to wait on my slow butt... Will Fritz's bot no longer be available in the near future or something? --ThaddeusB (talk) 21:33, 24 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
It looks like User:Fritzpoll have left Wikipedia =( Djacku (talk) 18:46, 4 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Fritz has left wikipedia for certain reasons and will sadly not be returning. If you like Thaddeus I can email him and ask him to give you the bot script to continue to download the lists from the others wikis. So far he has done Faroes and Albania and they look good.. How does it go? I'm eager to start working on this project, it is a great idea which I hope will not fizzle out! Djacku (talk) 07:51, 17 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Well, nothings stopping you from transwikiying articles from other wikipedias. Any language you'll find articles on other wikis that can be started in english. Dr. Blofeld White cat 09:00, 17 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Missing pages edit

I have been pointed in the direction of this WikiProject. You may be interested to know that using WP:AWB I today scanned of all the Scots wikipedia articles and created a list of Scots articles not linked to the English wikipedia. If there is more requirements for similiar things then perhaps they may be of interest to WP Intertranswiki members. Anyone can use AWB and do this task. With Wiki's that have lots of articles, like the German Wikipedia, it is so big a task that it's beyond the time requirements of one person, but there is no reason they can't be broken into more suitable sized chunks of upto 15,000 articles at a time. An example of a chunk was this list which was done for WP:TURTLES. Regards, SunCreator (talk) 19:04, 22 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Sorry if this is a little off topic, but wp:Local Embassy needs a bit of attention from multilingual users. Despite its confusing name, the page exists to help non-English users visiting :en to find other speakers of their language who are willing to help them cope with language issues. Please consider participating there too. Even if you do not wish to be an ongoing participant, please take a moment to ensure that your language-section has a section header such as this one:

Leaflet for Wikiproject Intertranswiki at Wikimania 2014 edit

Hi all,

My name is Adi Khajuria and I am helping out with Wikimania 2014 in London.

One of our initiatives is to create leaflets to increase the discoverability of various wikimedia projects, and showcase the breadth of activity within wikimedia. Any kind of project can have a physical paper leaflet designed - for free - as a tool to help recruit new contributors. These leaflets will be printed at Wikimania 2014, and the designs can be re-used in the future at other events and locations.

This is particularly aimed at highlighting less discoverable but successful projects, e.g:

• Active Wikiprojects: Wikiproject Medicine, WikiProject Video Games, Wikiproject Film

• Tech projects/Tools, which may be looking for either users or developers.

• Less known major projects: Wikinews, Wikidata, Wikivoyage, etc.

• Wiki Loves Parliaments, Wiki Loves Monuments, Wiki Loves ____

• Wikimedia thematic organisations, Wikiwomen’s Collaborative, The Signpost

The deadline for submissions is 1st July 2014

For more information or to sign up for one for your project, go to:

Comment on the WikiProject X proposal edit

Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
