Check Private Eye edit

Hi! I copyedit Private Eye, and want it to be checked. Suggestions will be helpful to me. Thanks in advance! The person who loves reading (talk) 02:32, 3 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

I think you've done well. The one question I have is whether "focussed", where you struck one 's', leaving "focused", should have remained because it is a British variant (although increasingly rare) and the article is about a British magazine. Dhtwiki (talk) 08:37, 3 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Section removed edit

I've removed the section of Profile93; this account has been indef-blocked as a sockpuppet account of a now-indef-blocked user. Indef-blocked accounts cannot copy-edit articles. Profile93 claimed to have copy-edited Gardener but has no edits on that article (see their contributions). This probably doesn't need a reply but feel free if you wish. Feedback request edit

This is my first time doing one of these, so I would really like to get some feedback on what I've done so far. — Garrett W. { } 05:27, 8 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

I checked X (Mega Man) and saw you wringing a fair amount of loose writing out of it. You had the nominator editing alongside, and not complaining. That in itself should confirm your edits as helpful. Dhtwiki (talk) 10:19, 8 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
I guess I mainly didn't mind it because it didn't cause any edit conflicts. As long as the extra help doesn't interfere with what I'm doing, I welcome it. — Garrett W. { } 15:38, 8 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
I didn't write that clearly enough. I meant that the nominator is seeing your work and not correcting it, and that's good. Dhtwiki (talk) 06:16, 9 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Ah, that certainly is clearer. The requester has been very appreciative and helpful. In fact, to my surprise they nominated that article for GA after I finished, which was not stated in the request as their intention. I don't know if it's really good enough for that, but I do know I would have skipped over that request if they had mentioned a GAN intent since I'm still a bit green at this. — Garrett W. { } 06:22, 9 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Status in between 'working' and 'completed'? edit

Hello - I started work copy editing a long article The War of the Worlds as it looked interesting. It still needs more work (multiple issues) but I would like to move on and work on something new. So it's not 'completed' (and I have left the 'copy edit needed' tag in place but nor am I 'working' on it. Is there an alternative way to record this? Thanks! Chaiten1 (talk) 08:08, 9 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Chaiten1: We (or at least I) normally leave articles for a few days as "working" before we get back to them. You can work on something else and then copyedit that article and it would still count, so long as you do that by the end of the month. If you don't plan on copyediting it at all, then I believe it wouldn't count. Cheers, Nythar (💬-🍀) 08:22, 9 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! Understood :) Chaiten1 (talk) 09:31, 9 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
The tag you want is   Partly done; specify what you've done, so someone else can finish it and it doesn't remain in limbo. All the best, Miniapolis 12:34, 9 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
