Italian Football Templates

Just a thought but how about getting all these templates set up so that they can all be linked together by using the {fb start} and {fb end} codes such as presently being done on the San Siro page. The 5 star template and the Serie A Stadiums template links togehter nicely.

If we could, I wouldn't mind doing the same for the following templates.

• Template:Football in Italy
• Template:Serie A
• Template:2006/2007 Serie A Results
• Template:Serie A Stadiums

Template:Football in Italy Template

Anyone think that the Trofeo Birra Moreti and the TIM Trophy should be included on the above template. Basically boils down to both of those cmpetitions being friendlies. I say they should be included on the basis of them being important warm up tournaments for the forthcoming season. Put to public vote I guess. For Niall123 00:54, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

Here in Italy there are a lot of friendly competitions in summer, and I really cannot say that Tim Trophy and Trofeo Birra Moretti are so important to be listed in the template. Against – Luxic 19:01, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

Seasons

I think we should decide a standard for the classifications. Actually we have many different classification "layouts":

• seasons 2003-04 to 2006-07 and before season 1929-30;
• seasons 1929-30 to 1932-33 (taken directly from the Italan Wikipedia);
• seasons 1983-84 to 1990-91;
• seasons 1991-92 and 1992-93;
• season 1993-94;
• seasons 1994-95 to 1999-00.

I see what you're saying. I did most of the later seasons, which I took from Italian wikipedia. I'll try to rejig a few of them to look better. Ideally the 2006-07 table should be used, but there is a hell of a lot of work to redo all the old ones. Plus, the 83-84 one is directly taken from the Italian wikipedia and takes a small bit of editing to suit the English wikipedia. Niall123 01:37, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

The work should be done. We can't leave the articles the way they're now: after all, this is an encyclopedia and a common standard is needed. ;) Obviously, I'll edit them myself as soon as I'll get to them (actually, I'm working on 1920-21 season). CapPixel 00:03, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

I created articles and layouts for classifications and results on Italian Wikipedia (my nickname on that is Murray), so I decided to use those layouts for the informations I inserted, but I did that just because it's easier for me to work on them; then, if you want to change layout to make it more similar to other articles' style, I have no problem with that! P.S. Just one suggestion: on 2006-07 table we should set fixed-pixel widths, because there is a visible discrepancy between some columns (for example, Goals Scored and Goals Conceded). Speirdyke 13:38, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

I didn't realize this discussion was going on when I made some very minor adjustments to the Serie A 2006-07 Standings format back on Nov 20th. I noticed that the point total is in the third column while most other classifications, including old Serie A standings, have the point total at the far right. I prefer the points on the far right (before comments), but will go along with whatever our group decides. I also think the font should be slightly smaller to match most other classifcations. Once we have agreed on a standardized classifcation it may not be that difficult to change some of the old classifications (especially if we don't have to move the points column for the old ones). I think if we can split the goals for/against columns into 2 separate columns, shorten the team names, and clean-up the comments, we should be able make the classifcations more uniform. I guess we would have to decide on the standard structure for the every old page as a whole. Juveboy 00:16, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Could someone do the detailed results tomorrow for the Serie A article. I won't be able to do it. You can get the detailed results from [www.skysports.com] in the live scores section. Classification at the end of each month.

If you take a look at Serie_A_2006-07/November you'll notice that I'm after adding the Round 10 table at the end of the Round 10 results in a collapsable template. Basically, I'd imagine that other here would agree that having the classification after each round would be too bulky. I think this is the best way around this as the template collapses into barely nothing. Any views or comments on this and any ideas to maybe improve on this idea ? As you can see, I have added Round 7 Classification yet as Round 7 table was never created on the front page, only Round 8 was added after Round 6. I'll try to get it done in the next few days. Classification at the end of each round is better than at the end of each month. However, I'd remove the small table at the bottom with the points deduction and simply write them on the note. – Luxic 13:35, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

A small idea but how about focusing on different articles and try to all improve them in one go. I personally think that an area lacking is in player articles. From what I can tell, there are far too manay players without any articles.
From my point of view we should focus on one team each week. How about focusing on the big teams first, especially on the Majority Completed section and get them up to standard. There shouldn't be too much work in doing these ones. After that we'll move onto the other ones. All it takes is doing 1 or 2 per week. If every person did that there would be a huge improvement within a month or 2. Niall123 19:34, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

Here in Italy we often refer to a match between two teams from the same region as a derby (or regional derby), even when there isn't a great rivalry between the teams at issue. – Luxic 20:29, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Naming of Stadiums

Last week I decided to move Stadio Giuseppe Meazza to San Siro. I did this for quite a few reasons that I have listed on San Siro's talk page (shown below). Anyways, before the move, I had entered a discussion on the WikiProject Football's talk wether this move would be ok. I had one reply which was basically do what you want. Now that I have moved San Siro, I'm just wondering should the same be done for Stadio Renzo Barbera and Stadio Luigi Ferraris. The case for these two stadiums might not be as obvious as for the San Siro but I'd just like to get an opinion here. Niall123 19:56, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

Stadio Giuseppe Meazza is the official name since 80s, Giuseppe Meazza is the star player of Inter, he play a while on AC Milan, but still a Nerazzurri, so Milan fans like to use San Siro instead of official name. Well, the name San Siro come from the district where it is located and was the original name of the stadium. Since the renaming people (not only milanisti but many interisti as well) have always kept calling it San Siro. That's because Giuseppe Meazza, despite being a great player and wining two World Cup, played too long ago and nowadays only 70/80-year-old people have a real memory of him. Move

I've moved the article from Stadio Giuseppe Meazza to here for a number of reasons.

• The official Milan website call it the "San Siro" and make no mention of the name "Stadio Giuseppe Meazza" - [4]
• Almost all templates on Wikipedia have "San Siro" written on them.
• Almost all links to the San Siro/Giuseppe Meazza article are titled "San Siro"
• A presidence has been set with the Nou Camp article. This is not the stadiums official name.
• The vast majority of people call this stadium the "San Siro". In popular culture it is the "San Siro".
• Google search for San Siro brings up 1,690,000 links which a search for "Stadio Giuseppe Meazza" brings up only 160,000.
• For a lot of people such as Lulu, Madonna and others, its their stage name which is being used and not their legal and official name. I believe the same should be set as a president for other articles.

Some guy has nominated the Serie B 2006/2007 complete season calendar for deletion (see Serie B 2006-07 Calendar). Its the only page that allows us to see the whole season's results and upcoming games. Wikipedia Day Awards

Hello, all. It was initially my hope to try to have this done as part of Esperanza's proposal for an appreciation week to end on Wikipedia Day, January 15. However, several people have once again proposed the entirety of Esperanza for deletion, so that might not work. It was the intention of the Appreciation Week proposal to set aside a given time when the various individuals who have made significant, valuable contributions to the encyclopedia would be recognized and honored. I believe that, with some effort, this could still be done. My proposal is to, with luck, try to organize the various WikiProjects and other entities of wikipedia to take part in a larger celebrartion of its contributors to take place in January, probably beginning January 15, 2007. I have created yet another new subpage for myself (a weakness of mine, I'm afraid) at User talk:Badbilltucker/Appreciation Week where I would greatly appreciate any indications from the members of this project as to whether and how they might be willing and/or able to assist in recognizing the contributions of our editors. Messina

I've been improving the F.C. Messina Peloro article a lot recently, but theres a problem. Compared to all of the other Serie A clubs, the logo for that article is really small and poor, compare; Messina to Catania for example. What is your concern about the colours? Serie A, B, C1, C2, and D all have colour as do all the other European classifications. I don't think colours for any of the classifications was ever discussed. Juve2000 17:44, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

In the stadium infobox, the "owner" should be who is in charge of the stadium (i.e. Vicenza Calcio with Stadio Romeo Menti) or the actual owner (i.e. Municipality of Vicenza)? CapPixel 22:48, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

I would seriously consider it, as this project is clearly in a state of hiatus as it is now. I guess making this WP a taskforce of WikiProject Football would be a great improvement, and a chance to make it live again. In short, I would support to turn this WP into a taskforce.
