Coordinator?

It has probably been noticed by most of the editors who frequent this page that there is often a pronounced degree of overlap between the various projects relating to Christianity. Given that overlap, and the rather large amount of content we have related to the subject of Christianity, it has been proposed that the various Christianity projects select a group of coordinators who would help ensure the cooperation of the various projects as well as help manage some project related activities, such as review, assessment, portal management, and the like. Preferably, we would like to consider the possibility of having one party from each of the major Christianity projects included, given the degree of specialization which some of the articles contain. We now are accepting nominations for the coordinators positions at Wikipedia:WikiProject Christianity/Coordinators/Election 1. Any parties interested in helping performing some of the management duties of the various Christianity projects is encouraged to nominate themselves there. Thank you. Much to my surprise, the period for the factual elections of the new coordinators has started a bit earlier than I expected. For what it's worth, as the "instigator" of the proposed coordinators, the purpose of having them is not to try to impose any sort of "discipline" on the various projects relating to Christianity, but just to ensure that things like assessment, peer review, portal maintainance, and other similar directly project-related functions get peformed for all the various projects relating to Christianity. If there are any individuals with this project who are already doing such activities for the project, and who want to take on the role more formally, I think nominations are being held open until the end of the elections themselves. And, for the purposes of this election, any member in good standing of any of the Christianity projects can either be nominated or express their votes at Wikipedia:WikiProject Christianity/Coordinators/Election 1. Recognition

DYK is in many ways the low end of recognition - it recognizes well sourced new articles. See Wikipedia:Did you know#How a DYK suggestion makes its way to the Main Page and The DYK Rules. Good articles are decent articles that mostly cover their topic. See Wikipedia:Good articles Featured articles have been evaluated as among the best articles on Wikipedia. No, I know that. I mean, what's the criterion for including articles as "recognised" as Methodism work group GAs, DYKs, et al. Should I list Peter Jones (missionary) as a DYK? Any Joe Methodist that's GA as a GA? WilyD 21:50, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Those lists serve two good and one debatable purposes. One is to provide content that can be used for a current or future Methodism portal. A second is to provide work group editors with examples of good content to use in guiding their work or discussions with others. The debatable purpose is project bragging rights. For both of the first two purposes, any article in the work group's scope is useful, so I encourage it. Joe Methodist, who happens to be a methodist probably doesn't belong in the project scope merely for being a methodist; if he belongs it is because his encyclopedic significance is related to Methodism. Examples of such significance could include (and do go beyond) being a Methodist minsiter, evangelist, theologian, outside scholar known for studies of Methodism, led a split away from Methodism, or an early prominent opponent that helped shape Methodism by their opposition. Changes to the WP:1.0 assessment scheme

As you may have heard, we at the Wikipedia 1.0 Editorial Team recently made some changes to the assessment scale, including the addition of a new level. The new description is available at WP:ASSESS.

• The new C-Class represents articles that are beyond the basic Start-Class, but which need additional references or cleanup to meet the standards for B-Class.
• The criteria for B-Class have been tightened up with the addition of a rubric, and are now more in line with the stricter standards already used at some projects.
• A-Class article reviews will now need more than one person, as described here.

Each WikiProject should already have a new C-Class category at Category:C-Class_articles. If your project elects not to use the new level, you can simply delete your WikiProject's C-Class category and clarify any amendments on your project's assessment/discussion pages. The bot is already finding and listing C-Class articles.

Need Help with Adding Pictures to Revised Article

The "Conditional Preservation of the Saints" article, which is of Top Importance to the Methodist Work Group, has been significantly updated. I need help from someone in the group with putting three pictures into the article. I would do it, but I don't know how. Could someone please help me out? It would be much appreciated. Christianity portals

I am currently trying to get together some lists of articles relevant to each Christianity-related portal which could be used, at least potentially, to help bring all the extant portals up to Featured Portal status. The current, admittedly incomplete, list of articles, images, etc., relevant to each portal can be found at User:John Carter/Christianity portals. I also think that, at least in theory, we would probably best use a single article only in a single portal, and that we probably have enough articles to do that, although there might be a few exceptions. I would welcome input from anyone on the associated talk page regarding which articles and other materials they would like to see associated with which portal(s), any suggestions for additional portals or changes to existing portals, etc. Thank you. Heritage Day

I notice the article on Aldersgate Day refers to its co-occurrence with Heritage Day, but does not explain the latter, nor link to it. This Heritage Day does not appear to be any of the ones that have wp-en articles. As a Baptist, I have no idea what is meant by this. I just got an email from the music folks at GBOD warning of worship burnout owing to the simultaneity of these two commemorations as well as the less specifically Methodist Ascension Sunday. --Haruo (talk) 16:30, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

Simple English Wikipedia

The editors at the simple English wikipedia have requested some help in developing some of their content. Right now, they don't have much relating to Methodism. All I can see, in fact, are simple:Methodism, simple:Primitive Methodist Church, simple:Wesleyan University, simple:George Whitefield, and simple:John Wesley. Anyone interested in developing some of the content there is more than welcome to do so. Either I, User:American Eagle, or User:Eptalon might be able to help in "learning the ropes" in that wiki. Hi. The category you tried linking to isn't really meant to be used by articles, it's only an index for the work group. I see that Seth Mokitimi is categorised under Category:20th-century Methodist clergy and Category:South African Methodists‎, and that seems fine to me. New article please assess

Hi, I have added an article on controversial South African Methodist (ex)Bishop Paul Verryn. I am confident that it is at least Start class, but am uncertain of its importance. It is only a bio, so I would usually say "low", but then because of the controversy perhaps it should be "mid", as it offers accurate information where accusations have left ugly questions about a Methodist minister. Hi David. Good article, I've just been reading through and it's made me want to read more about this particular person. I hadn't previously heard off him, or at least not remembered. As for importance; on a worldwide scale I'd say this particular biography is 'low'. Mid-importance biographies are usually limited to leaders of denominations, at least. Request for information on WP1.0 web tool
