Discussion regarding project organization

Any comments regarding the structure and function of Christianity related material are welcome at Wikipedia:WikiProject Christianity/General Forum#Project organization. Scope

The 80 articles in the parent project's Top-importance category have been reconciled with {{Christianity}} per discussion elsewhere. They will now form the scope of the work group. -- Secisek (talk) 08:08, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

"Core" importance assessments

I note that the project banner for WikiProject Biography has a "core" importance parameter, as can be seen at Talk:Archimedes. Would we like to have a similar "Core" importance parameter for this project? I would personally favor having such, because it would allow us to have full use of the other 4 importance grades for other articles. Thoughts? John Carter (talk) 14:15, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

"Top" and "Core" seem one and the same to me. --Secisek (talk) 04:07, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

They pretty much are the same actually. The downside to keeping them as such is it only allows us three other grades of importance beyond those selected articles, and we might find it useful to have more, particularly to help delineate the lowest priority articles. Oh, I wish we could do that. But people would get really upset if we did. I suppose we could still use the Core topics work group drop-down as evidence of an article being a core topic, but that seems to still not allow us to designate any other article as a Top priority. And we would be benefited from being able to designate the difference of a level 3 and level 4 non-core priority articles, which, right now, we don't have. Would there be any objections to maybe broadening the "Top" importance range to articles beyond the Core articles, and thus permit a slighter greater range of priorities for other articles? Could we get importance within Core work group - it does not seem to function at present? 80 or so high and top Core articles and mid and low for other tops? --Secisek (talk) 16:49, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

We could, but would we want "Low" top-importance articles? Honesty, I'm somewhat doubtful that it would do that much good, but it could probably be done. John Carter (talk) 19:05, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Templates

I've started a list of the various templates which directly relate to the subjects of the core topics at Wikipedia:WikiProject Christianity/Core topics work group/Templates. There might be some relevant templates not listed yet, because I wasn't sure in each case whether the template directly addressed the entirety of the topic. Any parties interested in being one of the coordinators of WikiProject Christianity and its various related projects is encouraged to list themselves as a candidate at Wikipedia:WikiProject Christianity/Coordinators/Election 2. It would be particularly beneficial if we had individuals from as broad a range of areas of the project as possible, to help ensure that we have people knowledgable about the widest range of content possible.
