Welcome!

Come one, come all! Welcome to Grammy Awards task force, a subproject of WikiProject Awards and prizes dedicated to improving articles and lists related to the Grammy Awards. I sincerely hope that this project can collect an active, constructive, and collaborative group of editors to work together. First things first: we need to build the task force framework, including an assessment so that we know all of the articles under the Grammy Awards umbrella. Also, we may want to create an invitation template so that we can recruit other editors to join the project. I would recommend browsing other WikiProjects and task forces for ideas! Feel free to add other ideas or suggestions here--hopefully this talk page will become an active hub for communication relating to these articles. Looking forward to future collaborations! --Another Believer (Talk) 20:47, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

Would a task force parameter in {{WikiProject Awards and prizes}} be helpful to track articles? Adabow (talk · contribs) 20:59, 9 April 2011 (UTC)
Absolutely! Do you know how to amend the template?--Another Believer (Talk) 21:01, 9 April 2011 (UTC)
I think I figured it out. I am not sure about Category:Grammy Awards task force articles by importance since the default template corresponds to WikiProjects (as opposed to task forces), but adding "|Grammy=yes" to the aforementioned template associates the articles/list with this task force and adding "|Grammy-importance=XXX" (XXX being top, high, mid, or low) gives the articles an importance rating for the task force. Time to start chasing down articles! --Another Believer (Talk) 22:25, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

To do list?

Possible tasks associated with task force set up? (feel free to discuss any listed or check off once completed, etc.):

  • assessment (modify Template:WikiProject Awards and prizes to include a "Grammy=yes" parameter)   Done
  • tag all Grammy-related articles   Done (hopefully... may be a few stragglers here and there)
  • statistics chart (articles by quality and importance)   Done
  • article alerts
  • showcase Good and Featured articles/lists
  • Did You Know? section
  • collaboration?
  • Grammy barnstar?
  • userbox?
  • Portal:Grammy Awards?

Importance assessments

I am thinking that the Grammy Awards and Latin Grammy Awards articles should be considered Top importance. Perhaps articles for categories and ceremonies should be Mid Importance, but perhaps the four main categories could be High Importance (this would include Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year and Best New Artist). Low Importance articles could be lists regarding ceremony locations, Grammy records, and other related articles. Thoughts? I am going to start plugging away at articles, but assessments can always be updated later... --Another Believer (Talk) 22:31, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

Quality assessments

I think all Grammy-related categories and templates as well as ceremony articles have been tagged (see Mid-importance articles). Hopefully I will get around to tagging all articles in Category:Grammy Awards soon, unless someone beats me to the punch! --Another Believer (Talk) 23:14, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

Blackjacks went through and tagged all Grammy category articles. Thanks for that! I just finished tagging all Latin Grammy articles and lists, Latin Grammy-related categories, and all logo images that appear on ceremony lists (both regular and Latin). That should take care of most articles, lists and files that currently exist and should be under the project umbrella. Be sure to tag any others that you may come across. --Another Believer (Talk) 22:56, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

Hello!

My name is I Help, When I Can. [12] and I think I will be helpful in some respects. I can help with Userboxes, Portals, Barnstars, and the layout of the actual page. I am good at WikiProject stuff. I helped resurrect and design WP:Kylie. Take a look! Also, I was thinking that this project should have a logo. Check it out below. Treat it like a AfD discussion and say Keep or Delete. I Help, When I Can. [12] 23:44, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

  • Wow! You have done some great work, especially for the Kylie project. I hope that I can speak for others when I say that your assistance with establishing this project would be much appreciated. I very much like the logo--so keep! Welcome to the task force. --Another Believer (Talk) 18:09, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

Category:Grammy Awards task force articles by quality

For some reason I am having difficulty setting up the assessment and statistics, perhaps because this is a task force rather than a WikiProject (I am surprised this process is not easier, actually). I hope that Category:Grammy Awards task force articles by quality is set up correctly, and that the categories should not be "XXX-Class Grammy Awards articles" rather than "XXX-Class Grammy Awards task force articles", etc. If the pages need to be moved, feel free to do so or let me know. --Another Believer (Talk) 15:04, 11 April 2011 (UTC)

Seems like it is set up right. Let us wait and see if the bot runs properly. Novice7 (talk) 15:37, 11 April 2011 (UTC)
Category:Grammy Awards task force articles by importance? Also, I saw your request to Moxy for assistance. I was just visiting the same talk page to request help--hopefully Moxy and other editors familiar with assessments, statistics, article alerts, etc. can swoop in and make this a functional project! We are certainly off to a great start, and already have twice the number of project members I was expecting by this time...! --Another Believer (Talk) 19:43, 11 April 2011 (UTC)

Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance

First of all, great news! Grammy Award for Best New Age Album was just promoted to FL status. The list for Best Rock Instrumental Performance is close to passing but I was wondering if anyone was familiar with scope/accessibility formatting. You can take a look at one reviewer's concerns here: Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance/archive1. If the preferred/accessible table formatting can be determined, we can paste an example of the coding on the task force page so that it can be copied for future use. --Another Believer (Talk) 22:47, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

I think I fixed it up. We may need to fiddle with the format a bit to produce a desired standard one. Adabow (talk · contribs) 23:05, 14 April 2011 (UTC)
Thanks so much! Now that I see the diffs you and Rexx made, I think I was trying too hard with my previous attempts. Hopefully reviews will approve of the formatting and this table coding can be used for other Grammy lists. I believe all articles have been tagged, but I am waiting to see how the statistics chart will be generated so that we can easily see the project assessment. Still hoping the main page will be re-designed per previous comments! --Another Believer (Talk) 23:19, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

Checklist?

Would a checklist similar to the one on my "projects" page be helpful on the main page? Of course, it would need to be updated to include the new (2012) categories. My list is separated by fields. Another option is to have an alphabetical list, regardless of fields. The assessment will help by displaying the number of FLs, GAs, stubs, etc. associated with the task force, but this "checklist" displays the progress for particular fields/genres of music. Should the list, or one similar, be used by the project, I will remove the one from my "projects" page. Also, I will try to get a list of "recognized content" up soon. --Another Believer (Talk) 23:53, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

That sounds pretty good to me. It's actually quite helpful, I used the one of your page multiple times.--Blackjacks101 (talk) 00:34, 15 April 2011 (UTC)
I will go ahead and move it over. Feel free to update as needed. Too bad the list cannot also display the date of promotion to GA/FL along with the nominator(s). Or maybe it can? Perhaps this would be too much information anyway... --Another Believer (Talk) 01:02, 15 April 2011 (UTC)
I see the checklist has also been used to "claim" a list by designating that it is being worked on--this is a good idea! Also, do keep in mind that articles/lists can be co-nominated, so feel free to partner up with someone if you would to work together or if the list is particular long/difficult. I am going to try to knock out the final Rock music list when I have some time. Does anyone know how to generate the statistics table? I thought a bot might take care of this. Perhaps the space needs to be created and a bot will take care of the rest? --Another Believer (Talk) 15:09, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

Poll: 90% text size for Nominees column?

A reviewer here requested that text in the Nominees column be set with a 90% text size. See the result here. I am not sure about accessibility requirements or limitations to the 90% command, but is there a preference for this over the "<small>" tag command used in all of the other Grammy lists? The purpose of using smaller text, regardless of the command, is to display all of the nominees while emphasizing the winner (and because sometimes a lot of text exists in the column so it helps decrease column width). Wondering if the "<small>"" tag actually makes the text too small to read for some users. Feedback would be appreciated. --Another Believer (Talk) 02:12, 26 April 2011 (UTC)

Rather than jumping in with the header "Poll", I think it is better to have a good old discussion. Personally I don't mind which size we use. Here are some examples:

This is normal. This is 90%. This is small. Adabow (talk · contribs) 04:39, 26 April 2011 (UTC)

I agree with Adabow. 90% does not make much difference. Novice7 (talk) 11:09, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
Having looked at the Best Pop Vocal Album list a few times now, the 90% text size is growing on me. I think that in some cases the "small" text is too small. Adjusting the text size to Grammy lists would be pretty easy, just a simple search and replace. I am happy to makes the changes should consensus show a preference for the 90% text size. --Another Believer (Talk) 20:22, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

Articles by quality and importance

Thanks for adding the statistics chart, IHelpWhenICan! I noticed all of the redlinks--is this because a bot still needs to run to complete the assessment or were the categories created incorrectly? --Another Believer (Talk) 20:11, 29 April 2011 (UTC)

Well done, Adabow! Thanks for your help! --Another Believer (Talk) 15:34, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

Grammy Award for Best Zydeco or Cajun Music Album

Once I finish expanding the final paragraph of the Recipients section as well as the "Category retirement" section, I will be nominating Grammy Award for Best Zydeco or Cajun Music Album for Good Article status. Feel free to take a look, if interested. If you see a typo, go ahead and correct or let me know before nomination. Keep up the great work, all! --Another Believer (Talk) 20:10, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

Awesome! Soo nice to see a WikiProject really advancing quickly!--Blackjacks101 (talk) 21:55, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

Timelines?

I am wondering if it might be appropriate to include a timeline on select lists. This could be helpful for awards that were split for a period of time then re-merged. Actually, I wish there were a way to construct horizontal timelines that would illustrate a single award category splitting into two separate categories (and even re-merging if needed). It would not only show the relationship between the categories over time but the years in which changes occurred. I know how to make a timeline with events marked, but I have not yet determined if there is a way to construct a timeline where bars split and merge. Any thoughts or ideas, fellow project members? --Another Believer (Talk) 17:15, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

I do like the idea, it will definitely make things much more easier to understand since at time is can be confusing. I believe that it would also help clear up some issues that the Grammy articles currently have. For example there is Best Album for Children which seperated into Best Spoken Word Album for Children and Best Musical Album for Children, which recently formed again into Best Children's Album (which should be merged with Best Album for Children IMO). If the timelines were available the creation of a page for the newly made Best Children`s Album wouldn`t have been made and could have been reformed back into Best Album for Children without a hassle. So yes I do believe it would help the organization of the project tremendously.--Blackjacks101 (talk) 17:30, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

Grammy Award for Best Female R&B Vocal performance

Hi guys! I feel like working on this article. I'll start within two days (Another Believer, I'm so sorry for not working on Hawaiian Album. I'll work on that too.) Help much appreciated :) Novice7 (talk) 16:31, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

No problem. I have not yet started the Hawaiian Music article either, but still plan on doing so in the near future. Distractions are a part of life! :) I am so pleased with the dedication and amount of work this project has completed in such a short period of time. Keep up the amazing work, all! --Another Believer (Talk) 16:58, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
Thank you for encouraging all the participants (including me) AB :) I'm on these two lists (and more :D) Novice7 (talk) 17:30, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
Of course! The fact that there are currently FIVE Grammy lists at FLC speaks to the effectiveness of this task force. I look forward to collaborating on the Hawaiian Music article soon! --Another Believer (Talk) 18:56, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
Yes we shall work on it :) Novice7 (talk) 04:13, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

A discussion has been started on the Record of the Year's talk regarding the recipient (whether it's the songwriter or the performer). Feel free to comment. Novice7 (talk) 04:13, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

Children's lists

By the way is anyone planning on working on Best Musical Album for Children? If not I can start there.--Blackjacks101 (talk) 13:08, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

Thanks! Actually, I just added the Musical Album for Children to my watchlist yesterday with the intention of expanding it to FL status, but I insist... go for it!! It looks like it will be a fun list to construct--let me know if you want/need help. --Another Believer (Talk) 16:32, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
Oh! It's no problem I'll just work on Best Spoken Word Album for Children instead! Glad that link may have helped.--Blackjacks101 (talk) 17:17, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
Sounds good! It will be good to get both lists together around the same time. --Another Believer (Talk) 17:32, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
I have a question should I not include the producers for the children's albums? I think it would make more sense not to include them, because all album categories technically go the the producers as well but we have never added them.--Blackjacks101 (talk) 20:37, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
I do not typically include Producers. That being said, I am including Producers for the list I am currently work on (Best Children's Music Album) as the albums are mostly compilations with ensemble casts and/or various artists. For this list and for this reason, I feel it is more appropriate to include the Producer(s) column than a Nationality column. --Another Believer (Talk) 20:59, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
Should I as well?--Blackjacks101 (talk) 21:58, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
I think so, though some reviewers may suggest otherwise. To me, it is relevant to include nationalities for music lists since the artists are (to some degree at least) representing the music culture of that country. The same cannot be argued for "spoken word" artists/narrators. --Another Believer (Talk) 22:47, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
Kk thanks!--Blackjacks101 (talk) 20:01, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

Grammy Award for Best Native American Music Album

Grammy Award for Best Native American Music Album. Well, what do you think? I can only find one image applicable, but this should not be held against the list itself. I will have to see if any Native American musicians commented on the category's retirement (see Zydeco or Cajun Music Album list for example). There are a few more redlinks here than I would prefer, but the Gathering of Nations Pow Wow is more of a series... --Another Believer (Talk) 16:40, 6 May 2011 (UTC)

I don't know if this is much of a help but this has a small blurb halfway down talking about how the committee was worried about consistently low number of entries. --Blackjacks101 (talk) 13:08, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for adding the additional image, Adabow! It looks great--I wish there were one or two others to add but I don't think the lack of images will be held against the list during the FLC process. --Another Believer (Talk) 17:35, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

FLC: Grammy Award for Best Native American Music Album. Feel free to contribute to the review, specially to the request I made about feedback regarding the Nationality vs. Producer(s) column. I find that having the Nationality column is usually helpful and informative, but in this case it may not be necessary given the award category title and the fact that all recipients were American. Perhaps a Producer(s) column would be more useful, especially given the number of compilation albums. Others may disagree. Feel free to express any thoughts you wish. --Another Believer (Talk) 21:23, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

New categories (2012)

This list contains details about the categories for the 2012 Grammy Awards. I still believe that this list is unnecessary and that information pertaining to the Grammy changes can be added to the 54th Grammy Awards article (however, that is another/separate discussion). I am starting this particular thread to discuss the fate of several new articles that have been created. We will need to decide which "new" categories need new articles, and which categories need to be merged with existing articles. For examples, the Regional Roots Album article clearly needs to be kept as it is entirely new. However, Best Country Duo/Group Performance may not be necessary if it is deemed similar enough to Grammy Award for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal to warrant a merge. I am not advocating either at the moment; I am just hoping to start a conversation. Feel free to contribute any general thoughts or provide feedback about specific categories... Following are just some of the newly-created articles (see 2012 list for more).

Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance Vocal or Instrumental was awarded in 1989 only. However, the category Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance will be reintroduced in 2012. Should this be a new category or should we bring the "Vocal or Instrumental" category back to life? These are the conversations that will need to take place. It can be difficult determining which changes are renames and which have enough new criteria to warrant their own article. --Another Believer (Talk) 17:27, 16 May 2011 (UTC)

Latin Grammy Awards

Hey everyone! I read the invitation and decided to join and I have one question. Can we attempt to put this year's Latin Grammy Awards (when it comes near of course) into the "In The News" on the Main Page? I nominated it last year but it was pretty much ignored. Magiciandude (talk) 22:21, 15 April 2011 (UTC)

I am not familiar with the In the News feature whatsoever. Be sure to post another reminder when we get close to the ceremony--perhaps another task force member would have some advice to offer. Welcome to the project! (Edit: Hopefully you and Jae can work together to improve our Latin Grammy lists to FL status!) --Another Believer (Talk) 22:26, 15 April 2011 (UTC)
Welcome to the team!--Blackjacks101 (talk) 23:02, 15 April 2011 (UTC)
Thanks both of you! I'd like to think of working for the Latin Grammy Awards as a collaboration between the two task forces! :) Magiciandude (talk) 03:44, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

Alright, I'm going to give it a shot by starting with Latin Grammy Award for Best Salsa Album. Magiciandude (talk) 21:28, 19 April 2011 (UTC)

I will keep working on the Pop Field. Jaespinoza (talk) 05:19, 20 April 2011 (UTC)

Can I hold off the Best Salsa Album list for a bit? There is something else real quick I'd like to work before I return to Salsa. There was a special event presented by Latin Grammies where a tribute to legendary Mexican singer José José was made and it featured various artists covering his songs. Is it within the task force to create articles on specials by Grammies? Magiciandude (talk) 21:46, 13 May 2011 (UTC)

I think that anything Grammy-related should be within the scope of the project. My only hesitation is making sure that the special received enough coverage in the press to warrant its own article. The way I see it, an article should only be created for Wikipedia if it has the potential of reaching GA/FA/FL status. Maybe you could start by listing sources here, or even creating an article in your sandbox so that it can be reviewed? --Another Believer (Talk) 22:53, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
Tell you what, I'll come back this with a proposed page on a sandbox of mine after I continue on the Tropical field. By the way, a category called Category:Latin Grammy Award winning songs exists, but not one for Grammy Award winning songs. DJ Magician Man (talk) 17:01, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
Sounds good. Yes, I think an assessment of the categories related to the Grammy Awards (and Latin Awards) is in order. --Another Believer (Talk) 17:18, 20 May 2011 (UTC)

Grammy Award for Best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album

The Grammy Award for Best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album is being discontinued. With such few entries, I think this article would make a better GA than FL. Novice, you did the work putting together the table and expanding the article. Would you like to convert the article to prose form? If not, just let me know, I'd be happy to expand the article. I am almost finished with the Hawaiian Music article, so I'd be happy to tackle this one next unless you are interested. --Another Believer (Talk) 02:31, 22 May 2011 (UTC)

(By the way, you can find other GA-class Grammy articles here if you care for examples.) --Another Believer (Talk) 02:33, 22 May 2011 (UTC)
Yes, I'd love to convert it to prose :) Novice7 (talk) 06:38, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
Sounds good! Best of luck! --Another Believer (Talk) 15:38, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

Templates

Anyone want to take a stab and make this recently created template, {{Grammy Award for Album of the Year 1970s}} and others like it, more presentable. It just doesn't look right to me, in particular all the information contained just for the SNF soundtrack. While I admire the effort to recognize every recipient of the award in a single navbox, my feeling is the award is for the album and all the additional information provided in the template clutters it up and is extraneous since I can easily find it on the album's article and/or in the article for the award, Grammy Award for Album of the Year. I'm sure if it looked better, I wouldn't consider it clutter at all. --Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars (talk) 22:11, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

Agreed. This template could definitely be improved. Have you found a template format for a similar award that appeals to you? --Another Believer (Talk) 23:00, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
I have an idea that will still include all the info but would make the navbox longer, but if collapsed may not be too bad. Let me see what I can do. --Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars (talk) 01:05, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
So here's what I've come up with. Further and/or correct wiki-formatting would be required, but it seems a little more readable and organized, although I did remove the listing of every individual in a group. See {{test tl|Grammy Award for Album of the Year 1970s}}. --Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars (talk) 02:23, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
Much, much better. Well done Star. I'm not sure if we even need the artists and producers in the navbox, but this template is a great improvement. Adabow (talk · contribs) 05:19, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
I agree. Much better. Novice7 (talk) 06:35, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
Agreed. Much better. I would perhaps recommend removing the "&" signs and replacing with "and" or just separating the entries by commas. --Another Believer (Talk) 15:52, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the feedback. I actually don't have any issues with the original template ({{Grammy Award for Album of the Year}}, but Tony the Tiger is intent on expanding these type of awards templates to include the individuals/artists who are the actual recipients of such awards. What are your thoughts and should I consider taking this discussion to a broader forum. --Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars (talk) 15:39, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
If these navigational templates are going to contain artists (including individual band members) and producers, it's going to contain unlinked names. Per WP:NAVBOX, unlinked and redlinked items should be avoided. Should it be, for example, "Blood, Sweat & Tears (Dick Halligan, Jerry Hyman, Steve Katz, Fred Lipsius, Lou Soloff, David Clayton-Thomas, Chuck Winfield)" or just "Blood, Sweat & Tears". Why make templates so complicated when you can get this info when you navigate to the artist's page, etc? --Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars (talk) 07:58, 21 May 2011 (UTC)

Further discussion on these templates has been brought up for discussion at Talk:Grammy Award#Formatting for Grammy Award for Album of the Year and Grammy Award for Song of the Year decade templates. --Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars (talk) 23:25, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

Best Hawaiian Music Album

Someone recently expressed interest in expanding the Hawaiian Music Album list. Novice, was that you? With seven nominations, I think expanding the article to GA status would be more appropriate than FL status. I don't want to step on your toes, but I am happy to collaborate with you on this list (if interested). I just finished expanding the Zydeco/Cajun list, which had only four nominations, but it took some time. The Hawaiian article will be a bit longer, so just holler if you need assistance. --Another Believer (Talk) 15:59, 29 April 2011 (UTC)

I wonder if it would be better to take it to FLC and have it fail purely because of length before shifting it to article format. That would mean less arguments later down the track (ie GAN/FAC). Adabow (talk · contribs) 19:38, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
I am not sure I understand. Why take a list of FLC for the purpose of failing? That would be a waste of time for the article contributors as well as FLC reviewers. A simple list of 7 entries is not long enough to qualify for FL status. Knowing this, the article should be written in prose format. --Another Believer (Talk) 20:07, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
Maybe a PR instead? Yes, AB it was me :) I'd love to work with you on the article. Novice7 (talk) 05:32, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
Sounds good. If it were my choice, I would construct the article in prose form. You? --Another Believer (Talk) 05:12, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

Oops, I wrote that wrong. I meant take it to FLC as it could pass (7 items is a pretty decent list), before converting to article form which could cause a heap of headaches. But it's up to you. Adabow (talk · contribs) 05:41, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

Prose sounds good, but we would need to add the Background/Origin of the Award (if possible) and then proceed to the recipients. Novice7 (talk) 07:24, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

Non-Classical remixes

I am working on Grammy Award for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical, and wonder whether it needs merging with Grammy Award for Remixer of the Year, Non-Classical. Thoughts? Adabow (talk · contribs) 10:59, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

I think a merge would be appropriate. Though one appears to recognize the "work" (remixed recording) itself and the other the "worker" (remixer), I think these categories are synonymous. A separate article is not necessary for a list with just 3 or 4 recipients unless enough detail warrants a need for separation. --Another Believer (Talk) 15:04, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
Done -- or should I say "Well Done"? :) --Another Believer (Talk) 20:12, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
Is there a way to merge or delete the talk page for "Grammy Award for Remixer of the Year, Non-Classical" so that it does not continue to register as a stub for the task force? --Another Believer (Talk) 19:06, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
It is better to reassess it as "redirect" class, and remove the importance parameter. Adabow (talk · contribs) 04:43, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
Is there a redirect category? I imagine there are many "Best ..." articles that have been redirected to "Grammy Award for Best..."--I didn't know of it might be helpful to have these all under the same umbrella (?) --Another Believer (Talk) 23:08, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

Grammy Award for Best Soul Gospel Performance, Male or Female

Grammy Award for Best Soul Gospel Performance, Male or Female--any thoughts? The award was only presented once, so the article is a bit short. Just wondering if any task force members had any recommendations or suggestions before I nominated the article for GA status (assuming it qualifies given its short length). --Another Believer (Talk) 18:22, 23 May 2011 (UTC)

I am requesting a peer review for this article. Feel free to contribute, if interested. --Another Believer (Talk) 02:35, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
Looks great. I'll comment on the issues (I don't think there are any) in a while. Novice7 (talk) 04:10, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

Grammy articles in other languages

I see the Spanish WikiPedia has a nice Grammy collection as well, mostly translated from the English encyclopedia (at least from what I have seen). At some point it might be interesting to fun include achievements from other languages in our trophy case! --Another Believer (Talk) 01:01, 10 June 2011 (UTC)

Help with R&B list

Hello guys. I need help with something. I am currently expanding the R&B Female Vocal Performance list, and I cannot find sources for the 1980- ceremonies (like from 1968 to 1979). Can you help me? My sandbox is here. Thanks. Novice7 (talk) 11:02, 3 July 2011 (UTC)

Great! I'll add a few sources later too. Novice7 (talk) 06:30, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
Great idea! I will try to add some as well (I recommend stealing from the lists already promoted to FL status). This will make source-searching much easier! --Another Believer (Talk) 15:12, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

1981 reference

I have been searching for a reliable reference for 1981 for quite a while now. Once found, I can complete Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Performance, Female‎ and Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Performance, Male. Any other task force members aware of a source to verify nominees for this year? --Another Believer (Talk) 16:32, 7 July 2011 (UTC)

I've been searching for sources too AB. A book titled The Grammys by Thomas O'Neil has all the details about Grammy Awards and nominees... I couldn't find an online source for the year... I found it!!! here Novice7 (talk) 04:19, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Fantastic! Thanks so much, Novice!!! It will be great when the Sources page has a link for every year the Grammys have been presented. Great work. --Another Believer (Talk) 14:48, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Update: FLC for Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Performance, Male -- thanks again, Novice! --Another Believer (Talk) 15:28, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
My pleasure to help out the project :) Yes, the sources page will be great. Unfortunately, for some years, there's no online source. Example: 1969, 1980 etc. Can you help me? Novice7 (talk) 16:00, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
When NO OTHER reference can be found, feel free to use Rock on the Net. 1980: http://www.rockonthenet.com/archive/1980/grammys.htm. Perhaps these links should be included in the Sources page with shading of another color specifying use only when an alternate source cannot be found. See Sources talk page for additional suggestions re: references to add to Sources page. --Another Believer (Talk) 16:26, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Yes, we should indicate that. I'll add sources after you're done (we don't want to edit conflict). I found three websites with nominations list: Awesome80s, Super70s and India-server. Are these reliable? Novice7 (talk) 16:31, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
No worries about edit conflicts, I am done for the moment. As for the sources you just listed, No, No and No. I would only include news sources, then Rock on the Net if and only if a better source cannot be found. --Another Believer (Talk) 17:01, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Oh, thanks! Novice7 (talk) 04:22, 9 July 2011 (UTC)

Merge proposal, Best World Music Album

See. Talk:Grammy Award for Best World Music Album#Merge proposal. Thoughts? --Another Believer (Talk) 23:01, 10 July 2011 (UTC)

I oppose the merge on the grounds that both "subcategories" could be promoted to GA status if expanded properly. I realize this assumes the articles are expanded, which they are not, but I am happy to begin work on both articles ASAP. --Another Believer (Talk) 14:45, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

Sources

Grammy Award for Best New Artist might be out best bet for filling in the Sources page with older references. Many of the lists I have worked on do not go farther back than 1980. Just posting the link here for future use. --Another Believer (Talk) 23:28, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

FLC

There are currently 5 Grammy-related lists nominated for FL status. Well done, task force members! Keep up the great work (and feel free to help by reviewing other lists when possible). You can also add your list to the above section "FLCs needing reviews" to request reviews. --Another Believer (Talk) 14:56, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

The Native American Music list could use reviews if you can spare a moment (nomination almost 2 months old). See Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/Grammy Award for Best Native American Music Album/archive1. --Another Believer (Talk) 15:33, 29 June 2011 (UTC)

Would any project member know how to get this image onto a barnstar? This task force needs its own Grammy barnstar! --Another Believer (Talk) 20:57, 28 July 2011 (UTC)

Producer of the Year, Non-Classical

Design

One contributor was working on a major facelift of the task force home page (in addition to other project pages), but the re-design was never completed. Do any other project members think some reverts are in order? I was excited about the new design, and have asked the contributor about plans to complete the project, but I am leaning towards reverting to the previous look. Any thoughts or comments? --Another Believer (Talk) 05:02, 10 November 2011 (UTC)

Latin Grammy in the news

So a couple months ago, I talked about the Latin Grammy Awards being featured in the news and since it's coming tomorrow, I brought it up. Erick (talk) 18:09, 9 November 2011 (UTC)

Is there a link to direct to a particular discussion? I am not too familiar with the 'In the News' section or how it operates. --Another Believer (Talk) 05:00, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
Sure, right here. Erick (talk) 05:05, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
Did you nominate the ceremony? I am not seeing it, and a search for "Grammy" only leads to a discussion re: an MTV awards ceremony. --Another Believer (Talk) 05:14, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
No I haven't. By "brought it up", I meant here in this talk page. EDIT: My question would, what should be brought up when the Latin Grammy Awards are done? Who won the album/song of the year? Latin Grammy Award for Person of the Year? Erick (talk) 05:16, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
If any records are set, or if an artists wins a large number of awards, those might be worth mentioning. Otherwise, the most notable awards are likely Best New Artist or Album of the Year. --Another Believer (Talk) 16:16, 10 November 2011 (UTC)

Show's over. Here are the result. Calle 13 won Album, Song, and Record of the Year. Sie7e won Latin Grammy Award for Best New Artist. Absolutely the worst year ever. *sigh* Anyway, what do you suggest on what we nominate for the news? EDIT:Before I even get it nominated, this was the discussion last year when I nominated it for the first time. Erick (talk) 04:12, 11 November 2011 (UTC)

Talk:Grammy Award records#Formatting

At Talk:Grammy Award records#Formatting, I've suggested an alternative format for the tables in Grammy Award records. I'd appreciate anyone's opinion as to whether it would be worthwhile to use this format. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 04:18, 14 November 2011 (UTC)

Categories template

Check out this new template: Template:Grammy Award categories. Thanks for starting this template, Tony. I did post a few questions on the talk page, mostly out of curiosity. --Another Believer (Talk) 18:24, 26 November 2011 (UTC)

Reminder: Categories to rename

  Not done

These should be taken to Wikipedia:Categories for discussion. --Another Believer (Talk) 16:35, 30 November 2011 (UTC)

Categories

I went through Category:Latin Grammy Awards and created subcategories for many of the individual awards (at least for those with enough entries to group together). Some award categories could be created if articles for the albums and songs existed (currently there is no need for these categories if there are no articles to place within them). I plan on doing the same for Category:Grammy Awards when I have the time. Feel free to discuss any questions or concerns. --Another Believer (Talk) 17:29, 1 December 2011 (UTC)

Redirect-class articles

Would project members find it helpful to tag redirects using the assessment template? If so, I can try to figure out how to set up that classification. (Click [Wikipedia:WikiProject Albums/Assessment here] for an example of how WikiProject Albums uses the redirect classification.) --Another Believer (Talk) 00:44, 2 December 2011 (UTC)

2012 nominations

2012 nominations can be found here, though I would recommend using a news source if incorporating information into WP articles/lists as this link will change each year. --Another Believer (Talk) 04:58, 1 December 2011 (UTC)

I've started adding the nominees to the article :) Novice7 (talk) 05:05, 1 December 2011 (UTC)
Great! Thanks for your assistance. --Another Believer (Talk) 05:12, 1 December 2011 (UTC)

As anticipated, there are many edits being made to Grammy-related articles right now. Some are constructive and others are not. Please be on the lookout for content removal, vandalism, appropriate content with poor formatting, etc. I have already made multiple reverts this morning alone. 2012 nominees are being added left and right, which is great, but we should try to make formatting consistent (especially for articles and lists with Good or Featured status). Also, feel free to take this as an opportunity to recruit constructive contributors to the task force using the invitation template on the main page. --Another Believer (Talk) 16:22, 1 December 2011 (UTC)

I've added 80% of the list and fixed the poor formatting, but right now people are removing content from the article so i requested a semi-protection for the page. (Reza (Let'sTalk) 23:41, 2 December 2011 (UTC))
Wow! Looking at your recent contributions, you've been busy! Thanks for your hard work. Hopefully vandalism will die down quickly. --Another Believer (Talk) 01:36, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
It's ok, I like wikipedia and i wanna be a part of it, so i did what i should. but this vandalism is getting worst. they denied my request for semi-protection, so i think we should have our eyes on it. (Reza (Let'sTalk) 14:48, 3 December 2011 (UTC))

Grammy Awards for best performance categories

Shouldn't categories such as Category:Grammy Award for Best Male Rap Solo Performance contain the artist's who won the award not songs? The award goes to the performer not the song, as the name of the award would suggest. --Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars (talk) 08:17, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

In my opinion it makes more sense to categorize the work, not the performer. Better to see that XXX Album earned five Grammy Awards (awards displayed at the bottom of the article). Some performers would have very large category sections if their article displayed every award earned by that artist. Categorizing performers might be beneficial in instances such as Grammy Award for Producer of the Year, Classical.
While on the topic of categories, I am still in the process of creating categories for individual awards. If any project members happen to create navigation templates (see Category:Grammy Award templates) be sure to add the appropriate award category. Someone raised the question on my talk page of adding "recipients" to categories such as Grammy Legend Award. Thoughts? I went for consistency when creating the category by simply stating the name of the award. I have seen similar award categories both ways. --Another Believer (Talk) 08:36, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
But then why would the Best Male Rap Solo Performance category be placed in Category:Lists of men. Neither Hot in Herre or Lose Yourself are lists of men? --Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars (talk) 09:28, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
OK. Feel free to remove "lists of men". I am still not sure I understand why you are deleting years award categories were established and disestablished. --Another Believer (Talk) 16:14, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
If songs are to go into a category that has a parent category of years of establishment and disestablishment, you are categorizing those songs as "awards established in 2004" (or whatever year). A category's parent cat should apply to the contents within that category. --Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars (talk) 16:59, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

Trophy case

I am realizing that many of the GA-status articles and FL-status lists generated by this project are being translated into other languages and also becoming featured content. Once the re-design on this project has completed, we should consider a "trophy case" that displays quality articles in other languages as well! FYI, we are well on our way to having 50 featured lists associated with the Grammy Awards task force--WELL DONE! --Another Believer (Talk) 16:55, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

good idea... is there any certain article that you all working on lately? cause i wanted to contribute beside having my eyes on 54th Grammy Awards. Reza (Let'sTalk) 19:16, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
Some members have collaborated in the past, but honestly most members have worked on lists individually. As I said above, almost fifty lists have been promoted to FL status by individuals. There is not a specific list or article on my radar at the moment--I am mostly reverting unproductive edits to Grammy-related articles on my watchlist (those I have worked on in the past or intend to work on in the future). You are more than welcome to look at the featured lists and use as a template for non-FL lists, if interested. Prose is preferable for award categories with fewer than 10 entries, so if you enjoy writing you are welcome to expand one of those articles. --Another Believer (Talk) 19:36, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
Thanks... I'll look forward to it. Reza (Let'sTalk) 14:55, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

I started a list of Grammy-related featured content by language here, in the sandbox. I am not sure how to display symbols to designate good articles, etc. in other languages, but at least the articles are there for now. Featured content exists in other languages as well (deutsch), but there is a start... --Another Believer (Talk) 16:07, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

I fixed it by the way. All done... We will complete the assessment page later. | helpdןǝɥ | 08:51, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
