WaPo

A–Z lists The Washington Post in Newspaperarchives and EBSCO. The former has about 20 years from the early 1900s but the latter doesn't appear to carry WaPo when I browse its included periodicals. Are you sure it's in our package? czar 08:43, 30 January 2017 (UTC)

Hmm. I can't find it on the list now either, but both Ulrich's and the A-Z list of major subscribing libraries indicate that it is accessible through EBSCO databases on our list. I don't have an explanation for that, other than perhaps it was on last year's lists and those indexes haven't updated? Nikkimaria (talk) 23:23, 31 January 2017 (UTC)

EBSCO's listings should also be specific to the databases included in our package. EBSCOhost has all kinds of publications, but we only have access to some of them. Should I add a note that EBSCO might be off, or is it possible to recompile the list with the right EBSCO listing? I believe Nikkimaria is right. The listings for EBSCO in this A-Z list seem to match those of public listings provided by EBSCO. The Washington Post, for example, would appear to be available via collections including the "LGBT Life with Full Text" (see Database Coverage List here), "Education Research Complete" (see here), and "Art Source" (see here)—to all three of which TWL has been granted access. But there is also a disclaimer at the top of these coverage lists: "Publications included on this database are subject to change without notice due to contractual agreements with publishers." So my guess is that WaPo was one of those publications that was recently the subject of just such a change (i.e. a removal). I'll try to dig a bit deeper into this in the next few days to see if I can find out any of the specifics, but my suspicion at this point is there is no WaPo access via TWL's version of EBSCO... -Thibbs (talk) 02:51, 1 February 2017 (UTC)

Oh, Czar, I also meant to mention previously that the A-Z list also includes Washington Post at Gale and HighBeam (see here). Those might be good avenues to pursue material from WaPo. -Thibbs (talk) 01:25, 2 February 2017 (UTC)

• Would it be possible to list the database alongside "EBSCO"? They don't make it easy to browse a periodical. Each database to be searched manually. So while the list matches "Negro History Bulletin" with EBSCO, Gale, and Questia, I have nearly no hits in the latter two, and apparently no coverage of the 60s in the former. czar 15:38, 25 February 2017 (UTC)

• I don't know the workflow but I imagine each EBSCOhost database (e.g., Academic Search Complete, as EBSCOhost itself is a product, not a database) has to be merged as separate lists. If so, if they were imported as "EBSCO (Academic Search Complete)" rather than just "EBSCO", I would know which database to visit to manually browse for the article.
