"author has no moral (or legal) responsibility in court" edit

This is outrageous: it allows hostile governments to insert media or source code intently for intents that are illegal in most countries. This gives a contributor the right of "FAKE NEWS" and also to public software that contains poisons and malware and reverse-engineering. (for USA commercial law, agreeiing to injure one's self in a contract is actually illegal).

   b. Other rights.
   1. Moral rights, such as the right of integrity, are not licensed under this Public License

It is true ShareAlike 3.0 does not contain this and contributor's have a choice. But Wikipedia is presenting this as "a better version", whereas it is forwardly a version that ostensibly allows the crime of offering candy to children who will be abducted: it allows that. Even offering such a license is not allowed in USA (corrupt contracts are never valid in a Court).

(`civility' means man cannot exist without the aid of other men in a co-operating society. civil law means "protect society, protect the individual, protect chatels". `commercial' law means "good faith contract", meaning both persons believe there is profit to the contract and are endeavoring in legal activities: or the contract is nullified in Court upon entry.) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:8806:400:51F0:8E:5050:9C8E:5855 (talk) 15:06, 4 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

"Civil law" is a technical term that means slightly different things depending on the legal context. These meanings have almost nothing to do with the current meaning of the English words "civil" or "civility". All these terms derive from the same latin word "civitas". -Arch dude (talk) 19:13, 14 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

The whole point of the Creative Commons license is to allow people to create derivative works. Attempting to limit the license so that only derivative works that are deemed ethical or moral can be created is very difficult to legislate. See the JSON license [1] for an example of some of the problems that this can cause. Nicole Sharp (talk) 02:29, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Missing {{Shortcut}} even though page's shortcut exists. WP:CC-BY-SA sandwiches its shortcut between {{Pp}} and {{Clear}} (immediately adjacent to its {{Short description}}), and so I request to do the same for WP:CC-BY-SA 4.0. Please add {{Shortcut|WP:CC-BY-SA 4.0}} where shown:

{{pp-protected|reason=Persistent [[WP:Vandalism|vandalism]]|small=yes}}
{{Shortcut|WP:CC-BY-SA 4.0}}

  Done I've added it, but don't think it makes the page look that nice style-wise. — xaosflux Talk 10:32, 5 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

bad coding edit

This page has a large number of coding errors. I have gone through the wiki source code and cleaned it up to remove the errors. Please transwiki the corrections from Wikisource to Wikipedia: "wikisource:en:Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International Public License". This page should not need protection on Wikipedia if it is open for editing on Wikisource without any risk of vandalism. Nicole Sharp (talk) 02:15, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

wrong title edit

This page is also titled incorrectly. The correct name for this document is the "Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International Public License". This page should be moved to the correct title and redirects placed for any variant names of the formal title (e.g. "Wikipedia:CC BY-SA 4.0"). Nicole Sharp (talk) 02:16, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Redirect to (and perhaps replace the content of) Wikipedia:Text of the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (note the "the"), to remove duplication and for consistency with the 3.0 page. Sobsz (talk) 08:37, 8 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Please change {{shortcut|WP:CC BY-SA|WP:CCBYSA}} to {{shortcut|WP:CC BY-SA|WP:CC BY SA|WP:CCBYSA}}.

Also, please add a visible full protection lock on the page. — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 16:29, 1 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

  Not done: We do not need to advertise the existence of every shortcut to a page.
Separately, a lock is already present now, done by someone else. Izno (talk) 21:53, 5 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
