Teahouse Utility updated 3-27-2012 edit

Hi all, the Teahouse Utility has been updated; I fixed a bug that prevented it from showing up on redlinked user/user talk pages. Writ Keeper 19:30, 27 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Teahouse Utility major rewrite 3-28-2012 edit

The Teahouse Utility has undergone a significant rewrite to use mediawiki functions and jQuery rather than hacking in stuff manually and invisible form tags. This new version should be *much* more tolerant of other scripts and skins (not to mention easier to read and maintain, and much prettier). Writ Keeper 15:40, 28 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Teahouse Utility feature added 3-28-2012; please see this page for details! edit

Hey, guys, I added a new feature to the TeahouseUtility script. It now lets you define your own custom Teahouse invitation! It can have the normal template, a handwritten message, both, neither, whatever! Just create a subpage in your userspace called Teahouse invite, and the script will automatically transclude it. One catch: if you *do* create the subpage, there's no way to override the custom template short of getting an admin to delete the page (although you can always just put {{Wikipedia:Teahouse/Invitation|sign=~~~~}} as the sole content of the page, and it'll be exactly the same as the default. Any thoughts about this? Writ Keeper 21:10, 28 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Genius...pure genius. How you scripties do all this is beyond me. Nolelover Talk·Contribs 21:27, 28 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
By standing on the shoulders of giants. :) BTW, since I didn't explicitly say this; you do not *need* to create the page to use the script; if the page doesn't exist, it just uses the default signed template that it always has up to this point. Writ Keeper 22:18, 28 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Teahouse Utility updated 4/2/2012: New feature; check out talk page for details! edit

Okay, so I've implemented the AfC flavor of Teahouse invitation; it now appears as a new button. You can see the default at WP:Teahouse/AfC Invitation (which can be used on its own, without the script), and you can also make a custom one for yourself in the manner of the above; just put your custom invite on Special:MyPage/Teahouse AfC invite.

I've also fixed something that was annoying the crap out of me; now, whenever you post an invite or talkback with the utility, after the confirmation dialog, it will take you to the user's talk page (or refresh the page, if you're already on it), so that you can see what you just posted. If that bothers anyone, let me know; I'll make it an optional thing by providing another choice at the confirmation dialog. Writ Keeper 18:29, 2 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Would it be possible edit

Or maybe it already is and I'm somehow missing it, to create a dialogue box that gives you the option to link to an individual section while leaving a talkback? As it is, I generally leave the talkback then go back and edit the section link in. Nolelover Talk·Contribs 19:03, 2 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Right now, it's not possible; I'll make that next on my list. Writ Keeper 19:07, 2 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Wait, do you mean for the Utility or the Talkback Link? (or both?) Writ Keeper 19:16, 2 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
I was talking about the Utility (I haven't installed the others yet), so I don't know how hard it would be for the TBLink tool. Nolelover Talk·Contribs 19:39, 2 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Well, just putting in a prompt where you enter the question name is easy for either script; for the talkback link, I was trying to think of a way to automatically insert the question title, which might be trickier. Utility update should be coming soon(tm).Writ Keeper 19:44, 2 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Teahouse Utility update 4/2/2012: Another new feature edit

Per Nole's request above, the Teahouse Utility script will now prompt you for a question title when you hit the button; if you write it in, it'll put in the question anchor. You can still just leave it blank or hit "Cancel" if you don't want to bother putting it in. I'm working on implementing something similar for the talkback link script, as well. Let me know about any bugs you encounter, or any other feature requests! Writ Keeper 19:51, 2 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Multiple script update 4/2/2012; please see page for details edit

Affected scripts: TeahouseTalkbackLink, TeahouseUtility

Hey, all, I've added the new prompting for section title functionality to Teahouse TalkbackLink. Trying to automatically determine the section ended up being fruitless, so now it just prompts you for the section name. This time around, if you hit "Cancel," the script exits without posting anything; this way, if you hit the TB without copying the section name, you have a chance to go back and do it before posting the talkback. This cancel functionality has also been added to the talkback prompt on the Teahouse Utility. Writ Keeper 21:06, 2 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Teahouse Talkback Reminder updated 4-12-2012 edit

The Teahouse Talkback reminder will now stop bugging you if you're making minor edits. Writ Keeper 14:19, 12 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

That's great :) benzband (talk) 14:37, 12 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Teahouse Talkback Link updated 4-18-2012: please report any bugs edit

I've updated the Teahouse Talkback Link script to be a bit more robust in its detection of links to user talk pages; in particular, it should now work if you've logged in through the secure server. Also, a few users have reported issues which I am unable to replicate; any new bug reports or other relevant info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Writ Keeper 15:15, 18 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Teahouse talkback making the edit without taking you to the user's talk page edit

Can the script be modified so that even though the tb is left, you as the editor aren't taken to the user's talk page and stay on the Teahouse Q page? The new Curation toolbar has the functionality I'm talking about, you can post a message on a user's talk page while staying on the page you were reveiwing. NtheP (talk) 14:31, 10 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Sure, it can. I personally like the way it is now, but I can change it. Writ Keeper 14:33, 10 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
Done. Writ Keeper 14:39, 10 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Error on button press edit

When I press the Install Teahouse scripts button, I get the message "[7b00910c] 2012-11-11 04:29:08: Fatal exception of type MWException". If there was supposed to be an edit screen, that doesn't happen. Am I the only one? —teb728 t c 05:59, 11 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

You aren't! I believe it was corrected in one spot but not the others, I was just about to look into it. :) heather walls (talk) 06:03, 11 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
I guess this hasn't been resolved yet but you can add them the old fashioned way as described on the page. heather walls (talk) 06:20, 11 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
This seems to be resolved now, let me know if it's not. Thanks! heather walls (talk) 00:03, 10 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
