Suggestion for discussion

The three contributions that students need to do next partial (~October) is to significantly edit an article, create a stub and translate an article from English Wikipedia for Spanish Wikipedia. History

Pre-Hispanic

There were several codices about history, religion, tribute’s administration, cartography (maps) from XVI century. Also the codices were images. For example: Tlacotepec, codice de Xilotepec, codice de Tezcoco-Acampan. There were different ethnic groups like otomies, matlazincas, mazahuas, chichimecas, etc. Some of the more important emperors were Cuauhtitlan, Tezozomoc, Azcapotzalco, Tlalmanalco, Opochihuacan and Xaltocan. Toluca was conquered by the Mexicas. The Mexicas had to fight against Azcapotzalco.

Mexicas = Aztecas

Colonial Period.

In the first Spaniard’s incursions to the State of Mexico were leads by Andrés de Tapia. Who in 1520 destroyed the population of Malinalco. Later Gonzálo de Sandoval arrived to Toluca’s Valley and put down to the Matlazincas. Because the Matlazincas were allied with the Aztecs. History

Pre-Hispanic

Cortez took advantage of and conquered what is now the State of Mexico. The Colonial period was when the original inhabitants formed a new world. They established new values, structures and created what now is known as the State of Mexico. This period began with the creation of small villages, territory delimitation, and the most important characteristic: the establishment of the original authority. Since this period, religion was very important. The “dominicos” and “agustinos” left a very deep influence as important as the one the “franciscanos” left. Education was well organized until “Jesus Company” arrived. In the 17th century, the native communities’ culture started to fall apart. It had a strong social impact. In some cases, old sacred places were respected like in Metepec……….. (not finished yet) (Latapí, A)

In 1799, the town of Toluca was determined a city by Carlos V. (Aranda, J.)

In 1810, when the independence was starting, Miguel Hidalgo went to Mexico city. He passed through many towns of Toluca. The people of Toluca joined the movement. On October 24, 1810, Miguel Hidalgo fought against Agustin de Iturbe and won. On October 28, Hidalgo entered Toluca with his army and made the army of Torcuato Trujillo flee. From the Revolution to 1990

In this period, State of Mexico’s population increased considerably; to around 12 million inhabitants, and became the state with the largest population. In the State of Mexico's economic transformation during this period, it is important to mention that cohabitation of a dual society; an urban one and a rural one. One of this period’s consequences is the partition of land. The State of Mexico gained from this partition about 800,000 hectares. The first type of industrial investment was done during this period. That style is fine for school papers but is not acceptable for Wikipedia. I assume you mean the Ball in a cup article? It is always helpful to wikilink articles you mention them to other users. For example, [[Ball in a cup]] produces Ball in a cup. Also, when you post to an article talk page or user talk page, don't forget to sign using four tildes (~~~~). Den-dede, you asked about adding pictures. My first question is: are they pictures you took yourself? You asked if I had any other ideas. I looked at the article and I noticed there is no history section; how far back in time have people been playing with this type of toy? What were they made of back then? • Just look up any article on any topic that interests you. If the length looks about what you are hoping for, then do that one. If you want a really short article, look for a "stub". A "stub" is what we call a really short article. For instance, the category called Category:Texas stubs will have a lot of short articles on many topics related to Texas. History

This game of skill is called in Castellan "bowling" and it is popularly known as "balero". The game has its origins in France in the sixteenth century. This game was loved by Enrique III, often this frivolous monarch was sawn playing in full public highway. At the death of Enrique III, the game went out of fashion. For 100 years the game was only remembered by some enthusiasts as the Marquis de Biévre, who was known for being so clever in this game.

The game had its golden age during the reign of Luis XV. The elegant people came out with their “bilboquet” made of ivory. Also the actors used to appear with the “bowling” in the scene. Then the game went out of fashion again at least in Europe. This is important because the “bowling” is known in many countries around the world.

Inside Brazil’s rain forest, the indigenous people used to utilize the turtle’s skull like the ball for the “balero”.

The game was reborn around 1910 in France.

Some academies were created in order to teach how to play “balero”. The game became more modern. The shape and the size were boring, so they decided to improve both characteristics. Some of the new forms were “the cup”, “the cube”, “the bottle”, “the hat’s mold”, “the bicycle’s guide”, “feather duster”, etc. The names of the shapes made reference to the object used as the ball.

Also, the sizes were varied. These were from the “horror”, which ball was as big as a watermelon and has a weight of 5kg, to the “Bibí” one, its ball was as little as a cherry and the “costaud” it was made by a little pearl and a handle smaller than a match. It was so easy playing with the “horror” but it was so tiring. As the toy was smaller, it was more difficult playing.

Ball in a cup The ball in a cup (balero) is a ball of 7 centimetres. It is usually made of wood (cedro, sauce, álamo). In the middle of the ball is a hole. The hole can be 4 centimetres deep. The sphere is connected to a large stick by a string of 35 to 40 centimetres. The size of the ball in a cup can change.

Popular culture The ball in a cup is commonly a toy of Latin American countries. The name can change in many countries. In Argentina, Ecuador, Colombia and Mexico, it is called "balero"; in Spain is "boliche"; and in Chile could be "boliche" or "emboque". But in Venezuela is where the game has more names such as "boliche", "perinola" and "juego de la coca".

Gameplay Playing ball in a cup seems to be very easy, but it isn’t. You have to take the stick and let the ball fall. Then you have to toss the ball upward by jerking the arm holding the toy. The main goal of the game is to put the ball in the cup. This game can be played in different ways such as “la simple”, “la doble”, “la vertical”, “la mariquita”, “la puñalada”, “la porteña”. Some tricks that you can do are “capirucho”, “por atrás”, and “media vuelta”.

I did some minor word and wikilink fixes; more needs done. Regarding pictures, I'm copying the following step-by-step instructions by arky that he posted to the ZYANYA06 team talk page: On Wikipedia, there are a couple rules you must follow in order to add pictures to a page, and rules about what you put on the image's page. These instructions below are for pictures that you have taken yourself.

1. Go to Wikipedia:Upload
2. Click the link on the page that says "It is entirely my own work".
3. Scroll down on the page that the link takes you to. In the box that says "Source filename", type the place on your computer the image is at (for example, C://Documents and settings/My documents/My pictures/name of picture). You can click the "browse" button to do this automagically :)
4. The "Destination filename" box should fill up when you have done this.
5. In the large box that says "Summary", type a short description of what the image is.
6. Then, in the drop-down box below, select "GFDL (self made- for things that are entirely your own work"
7. Finally, click "Upload file"

To create a new article, type the name you want it to be into the search box in the left column and click "Go". If the search result page says "No page with that title exists. You can create this page or request it", go ahead and click on "create this page" and an editing screen will come up where you can start your new article. Hope this helps.
