Please rename

Please rename this page. I'm not sure what a good rename would be, but please at least something more neutral than "leaderboard". As it stands, without a rename, this could become an mfd target, I think. - jc37 12:21, 3 September 2013 (UTC)

If you cannot make a contribution, do not find fault! It is a leader board and we have no problem with the terminology. "mfd" ... what on earth is that? As a retired dairy farmer I guess, "muck from dung"

I'm going to assume that MFD = "matters for deletion". Regardless, we've had this discussion on this talk page before. The leaderboard is rewarding participation via classifications, not revert actions. This happens plenty of other places on Wikipedia and sometimes in a more aggressive fashion, i.e., "WikiCup". It is a statistical ranking of individuals so I do not feel there is a more appropriate term, and regardless, my research supports the fact that a little bit of participatory competition is a net positive for the project. Hi West.andrew.g (with cc to Jc37). I think STiki is a good tool. At the top of the leaderboard you state: "STiki is not a competition" yet here you state "participatory competition is a net positive for the project". You cannot have it both ways. The "research" discussed above is distinct from STiki and its leaderboard; it is a reference to the WikiCup and gamesmanship initiatives I am familiar with in off-wiki contexts. This leads me to extrapolate that, if it were appropriate, I could enhance competitive aspects of STiki with net benefits to Wikipedia. That is not my intention. This is a page deep within the project space and I have no intention to change the name. As this thread itself demonstrates, no one has wanted to revive the matter for a couple of years. We aren't going to find a cure for edit-count-itis with a page move and redirection. I will always respect a broader consensus, though. West.andrew.g (talk) 15:45, 22 March 2016 (UTC)
