Subpages

edit

Thanks for making the subpages, Bueller 007. They make the page much more navigable. (^_^) --日本穣 Nihonjoe 05:51, 8 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

There are a number of redlinks on List of seiyū which should probably be listed here. Would it be better to make a section for them on this page, or on the anime/manga sub-page? Shiroi Hane 23:34, 8 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
On this page. --日本穣 Nihonjoe 05:19, 9 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
I went and got more data for these pages. I added missing kanji for all that I could. I also propose the others be searched once more and remove from the list as non notable. There were a lot from one video game who had done nothing other but that video game. (From what I could find.) And you're welcome, re:subpages. --Kunzite 02:21, 11 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
A lot of redlinks were dumped onto List of seiyū when they were trying to justify its existence during the AFD. I haven't done any checking of them yet, I just dumped them as-is onto this page since that part of it can be done easily using cut-and-paste and find-and-replace so that at least they're in one place and laid out neatly. I cannot do much with them at the moment as on this machine Kanji comes up as little boxes. Shiroi Hane 11:02, 11 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
Question: Would taking some general info from ANN-tachi violate the GFDL? I'm in the process of writing a quick translation macro for the jp:wiki sites that will translate the major terms and structure for seiyuu articles. (I've done one based on nihonjoe's Japanese TV terms glossary.) --Kunzite 01:59, 12 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
If the info on ANN can be found in other places, too, or matches the info on the JA WP, then it shouldn't be a problem verifying names and such using ANN and any other site that may have the info. I'd recommend adding a link to the ANN page(s) once the article is created. --日本穣 Nihonjoe 07:08, 12 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Japanese Syllabary

edit

I was recently looking for an article to help people with Japanese pronunciation. I came across the following:

None of these are what I was looking for. There should be a page that shows a table of all sounds in Japanese (including gojuon, dakuten, yoon, etc) and descriptions of how pronunciation (esp. with regards to vowels as represented in romaji) works. The last link is the closest thing to what I'm thinking of.

Upon further investigation, it seems like the reason there is no such page is because of the complication of various romanization systems. But if this was on the help page, we could focus on Hepburn. I just think there should be a better reference for pronunciation that doesn't depend on knowledge of phonology...that phonology article is useless to the average person. Anybody who's still wondering about this should try the IPA for Japanese article. Franzeska (talk) 19:13, 16 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Merge discussion

edit

Okay, I've begun it a little bit by creating this page for non-Japan-related requests. Any Japan-related requests can simply go on the Wikipedia:Requested articles/Japan, IMHO. I'm wondering, though, what should be done with the In Progress, 2004/2005 Unfullfilled requests and Completed translation requests sections of the page. Ideas? ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 03:56, 17 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'm thinking that this page is very redundant to Wikipedia:Requested articles/Japan, especially since almost any requested article will require translation of some sort. Therfore, I'm proposing that this page be merged into that one in order to keep everything in one place (less is more!) ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 23:05, 9 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Even though there are differences, the two seem quite compatible. A merger doesn't seem to pose problems. Fg2 00:15, 10 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
So, regarding those differences...how would you suggest listing them? Do we need to create a cleanup page and/or a peer review page for the project that lists articles that have been translated, but may need so cleanup work? ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 17:33, 13 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Don't know. Is that much formal structure necessary? Fg2 07:05, 14 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
I'm not sure. I just want to make sure we don't step on too many toes by merging the lists. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 19:40, 14 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Amaterasu+moon+human legend

edit

There is a legend where Amaterasu fell in love with the moon, and they both came to earth where they further fell in love with a man. Can anyone cite this or help me provide documentation? Chris 10:19, 10 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Mangaka list

edit

This was merged to this page with, as far as I can tell, no discussion at all. I'd suggest it should be on the Anime and Manga page, rather than this one, so the manga editors can keep watching it. Doceirias (talk) 03:29, 25 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ken Harada

edit

I am gathering information on the diplomat Ken Harada. Hopefully I can start at least a stub article soon. Cheers! Scapler (talk) 17:12, 5 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Finished, article is at Ken Harada. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Scapler (talkcontribs) 17:35, 6 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Weapon section: Type 30 rifle

edit

There was already an English article for the Type 30 rifle so I added the links. Underneath this article, I added the two short sections for the two subtypes (Type 30 carbine and Type 35 naval rifle), adapted from the japanese page ja:三十年式歩兵銃#派生型. This should be sufficient, even though the original requester was asking for an full article for each subtype. I deleted the Type 29 rifle (Arisaka family) request (listed as no ja article existing) -> it might exist as a rare prototype or something, but I could not google any results from any Eng or Ja source. If someone does find info I stand corrected. --Kiyoweap (talk) 00:28, 22 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
