Wikipedia talk:Peer review/Definition of planet/archive3

Wow, this peer review reeks of inaccuracies.

Pburka writes: Pluto and its satellite Charon, are the only planet/moon pair in the solar system whose barycenter lies above the planet's surface, which means that both orbit each other. I don't think this is quite accurate. The earth and the moon also orbit each other, but the earth is much more dominant.

I don't know where he's coming from here. The statement he quotes is correct. The barycenter of pluto and Charon is not within the surface of Pluto. The barycenter of the Earth-Moon system is within the surface of the moon.

Serendipodous writes: Fusion is related to mass, which is related to orbit,

While there is some truth to the above statments, they are not correct. The Orbit of an object is not related to mass. It is related to the mass of the parent object, but not the mass of the orbiting object. Also, the relationship between fusion and mass is somewhat untenable. McKay 06:51, 5 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
