Entrez edit

Since Entrez is not the only interface to this database, it would be kind of nice if these links worked a little more like ISBN, i.e. a page of links. Or perhaps if a user preferences option could specify what URL to use when autolinking PMIDs. I prefer http://www.hubmed.org/ for most purposes, plus I would like to link PMIDs to WikiBooks:Errata. --Chinasaur 23:01, 15 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Great site, hubmed, especially the feature of having an rss feed for a search query! Thanks for the link. --WS 01:56, 1 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

HMID edit

  • Should create {{HMID}} if you want to support linkage to Hubmed as opposed to Pubmed. It wil only create confusion if you were to do a wholesale replacement of PMID templates with HMID; people are familiar with the pubmed interface and would be thunderstruck to find themselves carried somewhere else. Suggestions edit

  • To be consistent with the Template:Doi, why not:
    • allow {{pmid|xxxxxxxx}} to work, as well as allow doi: xxxxxxxx and doi:xxxxxxxx to work for Template:Doi
  • To be more author-friendly and also consistent with the National Library of Medicine why not:
    • allow pmid: xxxxxxxx and pmid:xxxxxxxx to work. pmid: xxxxxxxx is especially needed as authors who copy paste from pubmed will inadvertently carry over the colon mark.

However, to really be author-friendly, eventually we must have Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Clinical_medicine#Let.27s_make_linking_to_PubMed_easier Badgettrg 15:46, 14 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Obsolete? edit

I added a reference to Template:Cite pmid which takes only 5 characters additional effort to type and creates a vastly superior reference. Perhaps it's time to retire this and replace it with Template:Cite pmid? Leopd (talk) 04:17, 3 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
