Pruning

Should the pruning rules be relaxed a bit, because we have not many users frequenting this page yet? utcursch 12:34, Feb 26, 2005 (UTC)

Yes, I was thinking the same thing. Should we let articles remain for a month, with no minimum votes necessary? Or if an article has not got any new vote for over two weeks? Can we convert the idea of collaboration into a list of articles that need to be written/expanded? What do people feel about this? -- Brhaspati (talk, contribs) 18:00, 2005 Feb 26 (UTC)
I would suggest a different strategy. Let's use the page as a Peer Review of India related articles; a step on its way to becoming a Wikipedia:Featured Article. One person (or more) authors a complete article, of say min 20kb and lists it here. Editors will check for prose, completeness and NPOV. (Simultaneously he also lists it in WP:PR). After a week, the main author submits it for a FA. This strategy, I feel, will result in more Indian featured articles, and simultaneously reduce the burden on all of us who who would need to research on topics to add matter. Nichalp 18:30, Mar 29, 2005 (UTC)
The ideas suggested here are good, there is a whole lot that needs to be done in terms adding new articles, basic articles, for e.g (the places of worship/temples of india, art of india (traditional & modern)) are missing or contain only a few lines, and as an Indian I feel India is poorly depicted/represented on wikipedia. Not all of us can do research and contribute to "The Contribution of the week", I suggest we nominate 5-10 articles; which would be highlighted and whosoever is interested in writing them or cleaning them should do so. --Girish 10:11, Mar 30, 2005 (UTC)
Nichalp's ideas sounds good to me. utcursch | talk 11:24, Mar 30, 2005 (UTC)
Girish, we've had three ICOW and New Delhi and Hampi weren't exactly upto Featured Article status after three weeks. Our ultimate goal is to get more feature articles; we would need to adopt a different strategy to revive the INCOW; as there aren't too many contributors. Nichalp 18:32, Mar 30, 2005 (UTC)

Restoring Nominations

I think the two old nominations recently removed should be restored, considering there are only two nominations currently on the page. They look like this: (Dmcdevit 03:32, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC))

Narain Karthikeyan

Nominated February 1, 2005; needs 5 votes by February 8, 2005

Support:

  1. Arunram 15:29, 1 Feb 2005 (UTC)
  2. Jam2k 15:50, Feb 1, 2005 (UTC)
  3. Sundar 15:52, Feb 1, 2005 (UTC)
  4. Matthewmayer 17:11, 11 Feb 2005 (UTC)
  5. Brhaspati 06:34, 2005 Feb 19 (UTC)

Comments:

  • Currently the article is only a stub. It would be a celebration of his selection to drive for the Jordan F1 team as primary driver.

Manmohan Singh

Is it still alive?

I can't dare update the page and template, since I do not post to the board, buit is the collaboration still alive? If so, History of Indian music is the current coll. (it got it's 6th vote first.) and I have deleted the redirect and put a very basic thing. You could use this occasion to start on the Timeline of trends in Indian music article (or a more general Timeline of Indian music to complement). Circeus 15:43, Mar 29, 2005 (UTC)

Extending the current INCOTW by one more week

Since it took a while before the current COTW (a mammoth project) picked up, shall we extend it to one more week beyond the already spent two weeks? We should then be able to put it up for FAC. -- Sundar \talk \contribs 10:20, July 15, 2005 (UTC)

I guess so. =Nichalp «Talk»= 10:34, July 15, 2005 (UTC)

Will the current COTW take another week? pamri 04:07, July 26, 2005 (UTC)

I don't think so. Though History of India improved a lot, we failed to meet our target of FA. It's time for the next INCOTW. -- Sundar \talk \contribs 04:45, July 26, 2005 (UTC)
Shall I put up Economy of India as the new INCOTW then? pamri 07:41, July 27, 2005 (UTC)
Please do so. -- Sundar \talk \contribs 08:41, July 27, 2005 (UTC)

Please Verify

Anyone who knows the Urdu script, please verify that this edit on the page Manmohan Singh done by User:The Village Idiot is in good faith. I have my doubts. deeptrivia 08:55, August 1, 2005 (UTC)

In good faith. It does spell Manmohan Singh but the user seems to be spelling from English to Urdu, There is no g sound in Singh when you write it in Hindi or Urdu. --Notquiteauden 21:25, 1 August 2005 (UTC)

Yeah, it is Manmohan Singh. I'm not sure about the spellings though. --IncMan 03:56, 2 August 2005 (UTC)

Indian Subcontinent

I notice that the article on the Indian Subcontinent is merged with South Asia. Is it right to have the same articles on both the topics? Indian Subcontinent and South Asia are two different terms and according to me, merging the two topics perhaps wasn't a good idea. Thanks --{{IncMan|talk}} 19:02, 6 August 2005 (UTC)

History of Rupee

I have been working on History of Rupee. Inputs will be highly appreciated. deeptrivia 05:06, 5 November 2005 (UTC)

Really nice idea - I would like to join. --Bhadani 11:12, 5 November 2005 (UTC)
Sure. Feel free to make any changes. Do you know of any images of Indian coins that are not copyrighted? In fact, we need a whole lot of work on Indian coinage. deeptrivia 13:45, 5 November 2005 (UTC)

Postal History of India

Postal History of India will be an interesting topic to work on. Here's an interesting link to begin with. deeptrivia 14:59, 5 November 2005 (UTC)

Other resources:

In fact, I just realized that there indeed is an article on Postage stamps and postal history of India Probably we should simplify the name, work on it, and link it to other articles so that it is easy to find. Any suggestions? deeptrivia 15:14, 5 November 2005 (UTC)

Peer review

I've been working on the Malwa article, and would like to request all editors to review the article. Seems like we can easily make it into a featured article. Any suggestions and/or contributions will be highly appreciated. deeptrivia 05:58, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

The right place to post this is probably the talkpage of WP:INWNB. --Gurubrahma 06:35, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

Reboot

Since, the military history of India seems to be the INCOTW from time immemorial, shall I be bold and suggest that, we nominate the article with the highest no. of votes (even if it has recieved just 1 vote) and rotate it every week (max every fortnight, if the scope is too large). --PamriTalk 15:42, 17 November 2005 (UTC)

Yeah sure, I was planning to do it and pitch for Jagjivan Ram before you came up with the idea abt Indian cuisine. I think it should be the COTW as it has 3 votes already. And let's please cap it with a fortnight at the most. Also, it may probably be good to identify a set of to-do activities for every cotw article. For example, if Jagjivan Ram wd be the cotw, the to-do list wd include, among other things, - a PD image, a book reference etc. --Gurubrahma 16:16, 17 November 2005 (UTC)
I agree. Not much is going on at Military history of India lately anyway. Although the article is still not up to the mark, probably we can come back to it later and have a fresh look. deeptrivia 16:19, 17 November 2005 (UTC)
I agree. I hope to resume at least my copyediting work of the INCOTW. -- Sundar \talk \contribs 16:21, 17 November 2005 (UTC)

SUBCONTINENTAL collaboration of the week?

Anybody interested in setting this up? In the light of earthquake we are seeing collaboration and solidarity across subcontinent. Any takers? Autumnleaf 16:35, 21 October 2005 (UTC)
