Effect of Urdu میدان on page layout

In the articles about Maidan Nezalezhnosti, Maidan, and this present Talk page, the way Urdu میدان is rendered causes white space (like an empty line) to appear immediately above the Urdu word. Farsi میدان, which appears to be essentially the same word, does not seem to have this effect (or perhaps not to the same degree?). Perhaps some Urdu characters are simply too tall and could be scaled down a little? I have no idea how any of this works, but perhaps someone can provide a solution, or draw attention to the phenomenon in the appropriate place? I use Mac OS 10.13.6 and 10.15.7; I don't know if میدان comes out differently under other operating systems or which particular character(s) cause the problem.
