Housekeeping tasks edit

It would be great to make housekeeping a semiannual, semi-organized event. In a housekeeping drive, we go through all items on the List of Korea-related topics as well as all items included in Category:Korea, and make sure that all items are up to code. Let's make a list of tasks here that should be covered. -- Visviva 06:25, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  • Make sure names in romanized form have a redirect (e.g. Pusan to Busan).
  • Check whether naming conventions are applied.
  • Flag any incredible information.
  • I also suggest that we leave some sort of note on the talk page of each article, to remind ourselves what we've done/checked.
    • Good stuff. Here's some more that I've been pondering:
  • Remove extraneous hangul, hanja, and romanizations(extraneous=present in name table or linked article)
  • Convert inline citations to a footnote system (there aren't many)
  • Make sure all articles have a link from the List of Korea-related topics and are present in at least one Korea-related category.
  • Make sure all articles have an adequate "See also" section (I've worked up an algorithm for this, happy to share it with anyone who needs help sleeping).
  • Tag seriously problematic articles for cleanup and/or NPOV, and list here.
  • In the romanizations, remove nonstandard hyphens and convert carons to breves.
It's not exactly December anymore, but I think I'm almost ready to get started. Anyone with a broom or a shovel is welcome to join. -- Visviva 13:19, 10 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

North Koreans edit

As if we didn't have enough lists of redlinks, something possessed me to type up all the names listed in Yonhap's "Who's Who in North Korea." See Wikipedia:WikiProject Korea/North Korea/Whonk. Out of 314 items I now count 5 blue links, including the one I just created. (Come to think of it, our coverage of prominent figures in South Korean govt isn't much better). Anyway, I fear it will be a while before I get around to creating the other 309 articles, so if anyone wants to improve our NK coverage, here's a great place to start. :-) -- Visviva 13:17, 25 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

Korean terms category edit

I hope I am posting in the correct spot. I have created Category:Korean terms (compare at the, IMHO, ridiculously underpopulated Category:Spanish loanwords and overinclusive Category:Chinese terms). I inserted the obvious articles; several others (e.g. noraebang) are redirects to more familiar non-Korean terms. - choster 06:45, 2 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Request for revert moves. edit

Someone moved several Korea-related pages. For example, he moved Kim Young-sam to Gim Yeongsam, and Chun Doo-hwan to Jeon Duhwan. Please see Special:Contributions/§ -- ChongDae 22:54, 26 November 2005 (UTC)Reply
