Bots edit

If the bot has a bot flag, I don't think it triggers the new messages banner. Mr.Z-man 17:53, 28 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Triggering is done on every edit. In your case, how would bots would send talkpage notices? — Kalan ? 14:31, 29 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Not every bot has a bot flag. I don't think the archive bots trigger the notice when they run. Mr.Z-man 17:07, 29 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I just checked by editing my talk page from my bot account, which is flagged. I got a new messages banner.--Dycedarg ж 20:50, 29 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Both major and minor edits from normal users trigger the messge banner. Major edits from bot-flagged accounts trigger the banner, but minor edits do not. So if the edit is marked as minor, the message banner will not be displayed (this is how the archive bots avoid triggering the banner when archiving talk pages). Ah, that makes sense.--Dycedarg ж 22:44, 29 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proposal edit

Might want to post this on village pump. Mønobi 03:26, 30 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wouldn't be needed if editors and bot coders would RTM edit

The layout at WP:UW clearly states that older warnings should be deleted and that the remaining warnings should be made to conform to a nice, orderly numbered list format by month. If more editors and bot coders would actually conform to that layout, things would be much neater! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 12:38, 1 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
