I think the maximum points for an article is not a good thing. It "says" that articles are wanted at a size of 5kb. We've had competitions like this for quite some years and our experience is that it's a good thing to give bonus for longer additions. It gives the writer an incentive to write a longer article. We want articles which are 10,000's of bytes in length. --J. P. Fagerback (talk) 06:00, 5 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Yes, the maximum was for the 'New Page' points; but what for? It is as you say un-needed. I've now noted that on the top of the table. Many thanks. Llywelyn2000 (talk) 05:25, 17 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
You limit the "interest" of people to only write an article of 5000 bytes when there is 5 for the new creation and then 5000 bytes brings it to the max of 10. We've found that giving bonus points for long articles make people write longer articles, which is what we want on Wikipedia. We've calculate words in the competitions on the Norwegian Wikipedia and now give bonuses for larger articles. The authors get an advantage of spending more quality time on one article. But, it's up to you to set the points scheme for this challenge :D--J. P. Fagerback (talk) 17:01, 23 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
