Some comparative information for perspective on "prestigious", awards, curriculum, high-performing alumni, etc.:
- LaGuardia Arts, LaGuardia Arts#Notable alumni and notable alumni ("Fame" high school)
- NOCCA, New Orleans
- Interlochen Center for the Arts, High-performing alumni and Interlochen Center for the Arts#Awards and accolades
- Walnut Hill School, all dance students spend more than two hours daily in dance class
- Idyllwild Arts Academy curriculum guide, and 16 placements at Julliard and USC; 10 at NYU and UMich

- These are great resources. I think a summary article on arts schools in the US would be a great thing. I may need a rest cure after this FAC, but I might even take that on some day.
- For the article at hand, having now deleted the one (apparently highly unfortunate) word "prestigious", the article really does not claim the school is the best at anything. It does claim that the school has been pioneering in some ways (as a model for integration, in combining all the arts in a single program, in combining elementary/Kindergarten and high school students under one roof, in the public/private partnership that underwrote the new school) and that is has been influential in the evolution of arts schools and magnet schools in general.
- If anything, I believe the article takes the POV that the place is interesting. From a hand-to-mouth beginning it winds up on MTV. The arson, while criminal, was the catalyst for the new school and its role in the redevelopment efforts. The scandals, while sickening, were the impetus for the changes that led the school back from the brink of closure. The fact that community leaders are willing to plump down millions in private money to invest in the place is, well, just not something that happens every day or, frankly, ever. That these things are controversial is no surprise, but the controversies are all documented faithfully in the article. So are the accomplishments. Readers may take the POV that this place sucks compared to their own favorite program(s). - That's the first mention I've ever heard of a "rest cure" outside of Latin America (cura de sueño)! Anyway, I realize this info isn't relevant to this FAC, which is why I put it on the talk page. But I dug in as it's a bit troubling when publishers of local papers sit on redevelopment boards and may have a COI :) A rigorous FAC is a great thing, results in a much better article, and maybe you'll take an interest in writing some of those other articles now-- they are all crap :) Ping me if you want to work on any of them together!
