Encouraging productive behavior with a new section edit

I decided to be bold and add a section for “(Serious) articles about silly topics written or improved.” April Fool's Day has become increasingly competitive of late, and this could be a good opportunity to funnel some of that competitive silliness into actually productive behavior. If you think this unilateral decision is out of line or will backfire catastrophically, please feel free to remove the section and leave a trout. Spirit of Eagle (talk) 22:11, 28 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Spirit of Eagle: Great idea! I don't see anything objectionable to this—it'll certainly be worthwhile learning something new by digging into rabbitholes and niches for quirky articles. Nrco0e (talk · contribs) 06:24, 29 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

AfD poll edit

Last year, there was a poll to vote on the best April Fools' deletion nomination. Does anyone want to do it again this year?

  • *turns into a gal* Sure then!~ Xinghua (she/her) Talk 15:20, 31 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • I conducted the poll last year and would love to do it again. But unfortunately, I won't be available to make the poll at the end of AFD. If we decide to do one every year, I'd be happy to lend my assistance, but my unavailability came at a bad time. Would someone else volunteer to do it this year? --Diriector_Doc├─────┤TalkContribs 16:58, 31 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Heed this warning edit

Wikipedia talk:April Fools#Ukraine war

Please refrain as much as possible from making jokes (and more importantly, attacks) on current Russian/Ukrainian events. Piggybacking on this content for a couple of laughs is very shallow and will most likely be shunned by other editors. Nominating Ever Given is funny because nothing bad or controversial happened; nominating Vladmir Putin is not. Panini! 🥪 23:51, 31 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Seconding this warning, which I consider to be in-line with our previously established ban on COVID-19 jokes. Spirit of Eagle (talk) 00:16, 1 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

<marquee>MARQUEE WOOO</marquee> edit

<marquee>Hello! I wasn't sure where to put this, or how to do this, without making people grumpy.
So I just put it in the talk page.
Have fun everybody!76.192.106.160 (talk) 13:47, 1 April 2022 (UTC)</marquee>Reply

Edit warring edit

sigh. Someone creates jokes that feed the trolls, adds them to this page, they're removed, and the same person restores them. I'm not a huge fan of this stuff in general, so will just leave it here for others to decide if anyone can force their pet jokes through. — Rhododendrites talk \\ 16:56, 1 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Adding to the page edit

Are we allowed to add our own ‘pranks’ to the page? Or pranks we saw done to someone? ― Kaleeb18TalkCaleb 17:46, 1 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Yep, you can add your own pranks. Spirit of Eagle (talk) 19:37, 1 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Where's the spoken ANI? edit

Under 'Other pranks', it states that there was a spoken version of ANI, but I can't find it; is there a link to it? I'm absolutely horrified at the idea of I would love to listen to heated ANI debates on my commute. Sunmist (talk) 21:07, 1 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Sunmist, scroll to the middle of the table of contents at ANI and look on the right. Cheers, {{u|Sdkb}}talk 21:09, 1 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/AssumeGoodSecurity hasn't been closed for a month edit

This joke RFA was supposed to be closed on April 8.

It's, uhh, been about a month since the listed close date.

Needless to say personally it's not too pleasing to see unclosed discussions way past their normal close date. I'd close it myself but I don't know anything regarding RfAs (other than the fact they exist) so there's that. 172.112.210.32 (talk) 01:13, 6 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
