Not bad, so far... :) —¡Randfan! 21:22, 8 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

I don't know how many edits, I have done. I think I have met 500... Megan :) 02:31, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Go to this site: toolserver.org/~soxred93/ec/Your Username Here. You should see your edit count. All the best, Kayau (Talk to me! See what I've done! Sign my guestbook!) 04:27, 27 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Our Future edit

Should this page include the Future of Adopt-a-User thing (see talk page?) for more details. —¡Randfan! 22:22, 8 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Adopter template edit

Can the adopter template handle multiple adoptees, or should I have a separate template for each adoptee? The Jade Knight 07:23, 2 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Really late reply here, but I'm pretty sure you have to have a separate template for each adoptee. That's what I've done- CattleGirl talk | sign! 08:19, 15 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Adoption edit

I've just cleaned up the adoptee's section. i have been to EVERY users talk page on that list. removed some who have been infinitely banned, left messages for those that have never received a message, asked other who have already been adopted to remove their adoptee userbox and ensured every person had someone to contact. one thing i'm not too happy about was some of the posts from the adopters! User talk:TruthApplies you can see what i mean.

I'm offering to adopt you. I Know some stuff that can help you. Don't expect to learn to much if you accept me to Adopt you. Bloddyfriday 20:19, 10 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Are you serious ?! Anyways I think we should get some conversation going... I'm curious to know who has specialties in what areas. For example if a user wants to be adopted purely to gain knowledge about pictures and making images and whatnot. Just a thought so that we know where we can redirect users too. if you have any comments i would love to hear them! Matthew Yeager 04:03, 30 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

First, that was a BIG undertaking by Truth, good job. Second, I like that idea, Matthew. I don't know how we would facilitate it, but it's a good idea. Maybe we could make specialized adoption userboxes (like saying: "this user is looking for an adoptee who can teach them to picture edit". But a lot more catchy) as well as the general ones. Same for adopter user boxes ("this user is looking for an adoptee interested in creating portals", exempli gratia). Or maybe we can just have the normal one and have a link on the AAU's main page to users interested in different areas. Tell me what you think. We can have a separate page that displays all the adopters and their respective fields. For example,

Images

  • Example user 1
  • Example user 2

PS: Fig, your formatting has somehow affected my edits. I had to remove the small thing in your signature, its causing my edits to go really puny as well. Hope you don't mind!! (Do you have any way of cancelling its effect?)

Yes, it would be nice if we could specifically request what we wanted in an adopter. You know how the adopters have a page for detailing what they can teach? Maybe we (well, they, as I'm not requesting anymore) could have a page just like that. Best regards.--Song 19:14, 12 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Question? edit

Who do i report an adopter to who does not meet the adopter requirements/has recently vandalized and introduced many inappropriate pages? Tiptoety 23:35, 30 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

New to project edit

From lurking on others' talk pages (a bit creepy, I know), I see there is a backlog of folks who want to be adopted. I'm completely unfamiliar with this WP, but if there are new users who are interested in researching and expanding articles, that's what I do best. I suck pretty bad at anti-vandal work, policy discussion, and graphics, but anyone who wants to try to bring bad articles to GA or FA - I can help. Please let me know what needs to happen. You can contact me on my talk page. --Moni3 (talk) 20:36, 1 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Requirements? edit

Are there any requirements one should have in order to become an adopter? Such as: a certain ammount of minimum edits or that sort of stuff? Just thought I needed to know. -The Bold Guy- (talk) 14:28, 25 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

  Yes

The following guidelines have been drawn up:

Adopters should be available often to help their adoptees. Adopters should have a minimum of 500 edits. Adopters should not have had blocks/caused vandalism in the last 3 months. If you do not meet these guidelines then please ask for advice before adopting.

Also it should be noted:

Inadvertent autoblocks or inappropriate vandalism tags will not be counted in the above criteria. Adoptees only need to have one Adopter (though they can have more). Adopters should only take on as many Adoptees as they can practically cope with. If a user does not meet the above criteria but still adopts, then the adoptee should be informed of the situation and they should have a co-adopter. For the archived discussion that led to these criteria see Wikipedia talk:Adopt-a-User/Criteria.

Do talk page edits count? edit

Does editing others' talk pages count toward 500 edits, or do they have to be on real articles? Just wondering. Stormcloud22 (talk) 21:41, 14 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Sure, why not. It's really just a guideline. –xeno talk 22:27, 14 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Need for mentors and a project similar to this one edit

Two comments:

  1. I am seeking mentors who are willing to help those who approach Wikiproject User Rehab in search of a mentor.
  2. A system for mentoring similar to the Adoption/adoptee system needs to be set up, with a category, project, {{mentorme}} template, and all. Who has the courage to start such a worthy endeavor?

Please comment here if you are interested or just curious. -- Brangifer (talk) 04:18, 8 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Experience edit

Is there any experince requirement for being an adopter? Dogposter 22:52, 17 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

I don't see any specific criteria, but preferably you should at least know your way around Wikipedia.--Twilight Helryx 01:02, 20 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Should Adopters be allowed to be Adoptees? edit

The adoption program reminds me of another similar program used by Alcoholics Anonymous and other twelve step programs called sponsorship. Sponsors have similar minimum requirements as adopters like having one year in the program and having completed all twelve steps. However, sponsors traditional are simultaneously being sponsored by another member with more experience in the program. Similar to adoption, sponsors can have multiple sponsees. This model seems to work very well and is a fundamental part of the twelve step program and I think it could work here as well. - Stillwaterising (talk) 08:15, 4 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Note, I have moved this question to Wikipedia talk:Adopt-a-User. - Stillwaterising (talk) 11:02, 18 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
