Wikipedia talk:2012 main page redesign proposal/Pretzels

Main discussion about this draft, is at Wikipedia talk:2012 main page redesign proposal#Request for design feedback from Pretzels. Please discuss there!

This is a great direction you've started. I'd love to collaborate on it. I'm an interaction/visual designer but don't have front end programming skills. Are you interested in trying some different design directions and getting feedback on them from community members? --Ashstar01 (talk) 21:50, 7 August 2012 (UTC)Ashstar01Reply

I like this one. The relative positioning of the div at top:-88px conflicts with my skin, though. You might want to be careful about making something that accomodates all skins and is not too dependent on specific (pixel-based) locations of other elements. --Waldir talk 00:27, 12 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

  • Thanks Waldir, I'm so glad you like it! Luckily, the relative positioning is merely to mimic the main page layout for preview purposes - it covers up the page title. The code in general is very rough for now. — Pretzels Hii! 18:51, 12 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
    That's great to hear. I like toying around with html and css myself, so if you'd like any help/feedback, just let me know :) I really think the other proposals aren't being bold enough and this one seems headed in a good direction, so I'd love to contribute. --Waldir talk 21:51, 12 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
You can mostly hide the page title with this line:
{{DISPLAYTITLE:<div style="display: hidden;">{{FULLPAGENAME}}}}
