Join us at one of our three FREE workshops in Minnesota, where you can learn how to edit Wikipedia in a relaxed and supportive setting. Work alongside others and discover how easy editing Wikipedia can be.

Whether you're curious about how information gets added to Wikipedia or want to find new ways to share your community's history, this workshop will boost your confidence in editing the world's largest encyclopedia.

In the workshop, you'll learn how to edit Wikipedia, use its editing tools, understand the rules and culture of Wikipedia, and learn about Wikipedia's sister sites, Wikimedia Commons and Wikidata.

If you're already good at editing Wikipedia, you're welcome to come and improve your skills by working on Wikipedia articles alongside others

These workshops are part of the Minnesota Historical Society's commitment to the Minnesota local history community and are led by Local History Services.

Preparation

edit

If you're coming, try to create a Wikipedia account beforehand: don't wait until the day to do it! Here's a form you can use. Creating an account makes editing much easier (more info). You'll need to pick a "handle" for your username; you could use your real name, but it's nicer to have the option to be a bit anonymous if you want. Joe's username is Myotus.
