Writing Contest: 30 days to create (at least) 5 Nigeria-related articles
On the 15th of January 2016, Wikipedia celebrated its 15 year anniversary.
In the past 15 years of Wikipedia existence, Nigeria-related topics are poorly covered on the world largest encyclopedia, despite the fact that Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa. Although, this poor coverage may be attributed to low number of editors from Nigeria
On this note, it was important to celebrate Wikipedia 15 by organizing a workshop and writing contest to increase the number of Nigeria-related topics and editors.
This contest launches Wiki Loves Nigeria, a content liberation project related to Nigeria.
The contest will start on the 28th of January 2016 and will end on the 29th of February 2016
Any creation or modifications done before the start of the contest will not be accepted as part of the contest.
For the sake of fairness, it is important not to start working on an article in a subpage or offline before the start of the contest. Please respect the spirit of the contest and only start working on your article from the 28th onwards.
Anyone with account on Wikipedia can participate in the contest. We are using the English-language Wikipedia to instruct participants. Participants are expected to register on Wikipedia using the Create account link.
Participants are expected to respect our copyright policy. Contents that violate this policy will not be accepted and will be speedily deleted.
